J Mill | 3 comments Hi all,

Hoping you can help me find a horror story I read years ago and would very much like to read again.

Synopsis: Narrator aids friend (professor?) who has somehow discovered a portal to another dimension. The catch is that said friend got his hand stuck in the portal, or rather the portal stuck on him, so that it is very slowly engulfing him and nasties from the other side are using him as a conduit to come into our reality.

This was an established author, and I remember thinking it was uncharacteristic of his normal work. Just can't remember who or the title of the story. Its driving me nuts! Hope someone can help me out.

Cheers!

It does sound like “Window”, but the bit about the stuck hand makes me think it’s something else. I have no idea what that “something else” is, unfortunately.

J Mill | 3 comments Thanks for the replies. Its not "Window" (good story!) and I've been going through Bradbury's stories, not finding it there. For some reason William F. Nolan stuck in my head, but I can't find it in his stuff. Then I thought Matheson, but can't find it there.

Going through the "What's the name of that book" section now.

It was in a collection of one author's short stories, and the caption on the back cover said something about a man who opens a door to another dimension but "gets a hand stuck." Searching for that phrase on the internet has not been helpful, though.
