Let's have some fun rereading, or maybe reading for the first time, the adventures of girl sleuth Nancy Drew.

As you're reading please take a minute to share an "aha" or passage from the story you particularly liked. If you find an article or post about Nancy or the series, please share.

I remember reading each book in order. I could see myself driving the blue roadster (it was a roadster in older editions). I wanted to be as smart, independent and have great friends like Nancy. She was a role model for many us.

This time we'll be reading about Nancy through adult eyes. Let's see if our thoughts today match our memories of yesterday.

Laura | 1 comments Hi! I just thought that reading all of Nancy Drew would be a fun thing to do in retirement. I never got to read all of them as a youngster. I’m on The Bungalow Mystery now! Nancy was my ego ideal growing up. Although my life didn’t turn out like hers, I thought “what would Nancy do”. When in a difficult situation. This gave me more courage than my upbringing did!

Debbie my first memory of Nancy Drew was when I was about 8 (1959) my parents and I traveled back to Illinois from California to visit my parents home town and family. My aunt and uncle had recently got married and moved into an old cabin on the property they had bought for a dairy farm. They were wonderful country folk who were well educated and smart. My aunt had made the best of the place until they could build their own home. The cabin had no indoor plumbing but they had a pump at the kitchen sink. I looked through her books in the bookshelf and found the Nancy Drew. I laid down on the wooden floor because it was so hot and humid. I think the adults were also laying down. I could see daylight between the floor boards. The book was fun and unlike anything I'd read before. That is my first and only Nancy Drew memory.

Ameliedanjou | 1 comments I've just started re-reading these. I first read them in the late 1960s in 2nd and 3rd grade for sure. I'm looking for one - I just remember a small bit of the plot, where Nancy was kidnapped, blindfolded, and taken down some stairs. She counts the stairs, and is able to find the same stairway later (with Bess & George's help) because of her counting. Any idea which book this is?
