I’ve been out of the reading world for basically the last two years (Jesus that’s flown). What are the must-reads I might have missed??

All of them.
But I would highly recommend the Murderbot Chronicles by Martha Wells. 4 Novellas.
Brilliant and all quick enough reads.

It's not a book from the last two years (it's a smidge older), but I'm really enjoying reading a trilogy at the moment, the first beginning 'Agatha H and the Airship City'. Very amusing and fun - Adventure! Romance! Science!

It also might be worth reading Mortal Engines as the film is coming out next month.

Narilka | 390 comments I'll second the Murderbot suggestion, though I've only read the first one. It was fantastic. I need to continue the series.

You might want to join in on next month's Skyward read, the latest book by Brandon Sanderson. I'm guessing it's going to be great :)

I also really enjoyed Spinning Silver.

If you like the Heartstrikers series by Rachel Aaron, her newest book, Minimum Wage Magic is set in the same world and loads of fun.

Also the Spellslinger Series by Sebastian de Castell..

And definitely jump in on Spellslinger. Never a bad time for Sanderson

Rick A lot. Whether you should catch up is dependent on your tastes etc. I'd echo the Murderbot series if you like SF (vs fantasy). Jemisin's Hugo winning trilogy (all 3 books won it) starting with Fifth Season are brilliant. Obviously, if you have fave authors, catch up with what they've done and see if their new stuff appeals.

In general though, we need more info. What do you love?

Well I got Skyward for my birthday (YAY) - I'm a big Sanderson fan. So I will crack on with that when I get the chance.

Favourite authors are Sanderson & Robert Jordan. Sci Fi, don't really have a favourite author but i loved Becky Chambers work, Ready Player One is probably up there as one of my favourite books ever. Really enjoyed Leviathan Wakes, Enders Game, Ilium, The Martian Chronicles, Armada, The Martian, Red Rising.

I've started a lot of series and not followed through, so I have a lot of material I know i can read. But specifically looking for any corkers i may have missed.

Sandy | 1665 comments if you didn't read Kings of the Wyld - highly recommended.

I'll second Kings of the Wyld! :D

I really need to get on with reading more Sanderson. I have loads of his books but actually haven't read many of them yet.

The Grey Bastards is one of my favourites recently. As well as the Manifest Delusions series by Michael Fletcher. Both are grimdark and that's my jam so may not be for everyone.

Sandy | 1665 comments I will have to second Grey Bastards - that was an excellent book.
