Similar to what occurred in 2018, I'll be making individual boards for each of these topics so that people may discuss potential works. Participants are also welcome to create a discussion board in this folder for purposes of planning and tracking their progress.

The fun begins January 1st, 2019, and ends Dec 31st, 2019, but feel free to start planning now!

PSA: Let me know if it's too difficult to read any of those challenge items, and I'll go ahead and type them out.

Brina I printed mine out. I don’t intend to finish because I’m focusing on my tbr next year, but if some of the books on my tbr fit these categories, I’ll pencil them in.

Luke (korrick) | 2004 comments I've set up a widget for the 2019 RWC, so those who like that structure can now set their challenge up accordingly.

Ellen (karenvirginiaflaxman) | 1 comments Just joined this group. I intend to read 125+ books in 2019, and will make sure to include books that fit the criteria. I’ve finished already Moon Tiger, by Penelope Lively (novel), Orchid and the Wasp, by Caoilinn Hughes (novel by the Irish author - her first and an excellent read), In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer, by Irene Gut Opdyke (true story, translated from the German by Jennifer Armstrong), and a nonfiction book about Ritz and Escoffier (does not fit the criteria and as so doesn’t count).

I’m looking forward to hearing what everyone is reading, and thanks!
Ellen

Luke (korrick) | 2004 comments Welcome to both the challenge and the group, Ellen. I hope you enjoy your reading here.

Welcome Ellen. I read Moon Tiger at the end of last year and just loved it. Enjoy your challenge!

K (katetakate) | 8 comments Hi, I just joined after discovering your group here on GR. I look forward to trying to join this challenge as best I can (time and my library resources permitting) but I’m excited to read more on your webpage later and these threads for book suggestions, and in due course I will try to actively write comments.
I tend to read books by female authors and/or about women getting reccomendations from A Mighty Girl website/Facebook page adult books lists and I’m drawn to books by POC or about POC so I’m really keen to see how my current 2019 TBR list fits your challenge as well as trying to add a few more books from your challenge suggestions. My goal is to read between 36 to 40 books this year. Last year I read 40 books, just checked, all but 3 were written by female authors.

Question: I’m a bit unclear what to do to participate...Do the members post up their lists here? Thanks!

K (katetakate) | 8 comments Me again: sorry I think my question is mainly answered. When I read your post on my mobile phone a lot of the text got missed off (I’ve noticed GoodReads mobile app does that) so I’ll try to remember to log into this site on my Laptop as well.

Welcome to the group and challenge, Kate. You can chat here or make your own board in the challenge discussion for planning/tracking. You have admirable reading goals, and I hope this group can help you fulfill them (regarding your interest in POC, we have a directory devoted to women of color authors in the directory section here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...).

I don't see the point in discouraging books by women, so do what works best for what you have available to you to read. These categories are also for the most part so highly specific that having multiple representatives can't hurt.

Hi there! Just joined and quite excited to stretch my reading goals. Is there a way to get the widget on my home page, or is it only visible on the group page?

Welcome to the group and the challenge, Tanya. As far as I can tell, there is no easily accessible code for a widget for the RWC challenge. There is a group widget that you may be able to experiment with: https://www.goodreads.com/group/membe...

Nina ( picturetalk321 ) I joined the group two days ago and am totally excited about this challenge. Especially as I realise I have already ticked quite a few of these boxes this year! (The Lambda even inadvertently; I hadn't realised who had won it but read her book in Jan!). How do people keep track and announce their % on the challenge? (I carefully read the exchange re widget above.)
Thank you!

Welcome, Nina! I'm sure our moderator, Aubrey, will have better answers on specifics.

I don't think there is an overview that displays your percentage for the group (unlike your personal reading challenge), but I personally keep track by adding a checkmark with HTML to the start of every entry I've read, and bolding the dates. You can edit your reading challenge post any time you want, so you can slash or put a checkmark or bold out every category/book you've read.

Hope you enjoy taking part in the challenge! Sounds like you're already a step ahead.

Welcome to the group and challenge, Nina. You can set up a percentage display in the challenge display itself by linking a shelf containing all of your challenge reads with the display. This page will contain more information about how to do that: https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/...

You won't be able to do an individual percentage display on other pages, but you can make a discussion for your challenge plans in this topic heading: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Thanks for helping out, Nell :)
