I'm just starting to look at options, but am already intrigued by these two:
Moon Women
and
Over the Plain Houses

Good to hear, Kathleen :) I hope you enjoy yourself during the challenge.

I don’t know what I’ll pick for this task, but some books I’m considering are:
Matewan Before the Massacre: "Politics, Coal and the Roots of Conflict in a West Virginia Mining Community" by Rebecca J. Bailey (nonfiction);
White Trash: The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America by Nancy Isenberg (nonfiction);
Storming Heaven by Denise Giardina (fiction);
Something by Wilma Dykeman. Could be The French Broad.
Over the Plain Houses by Julia Franks (fiction);
The Dollmaker by Harriette Simpson Arnow (fiction)
