Samy | 51 comments I really enjoyed Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse for this one. It's a fast-paced, post-apocalyptic urban fantasy set in the Dinétah (Navajo Nation). People who enjoy speculative fiction would probably like it.

Carol (carolfromnc) I found my likely choice for this task today: Murder on the Red River, the debut novel by Marcie Rendon, enrolled member of the White Earth Nation.

Samy | 51 comments One I really like so far that I'm currently reading is Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer. I happen to be reading that one for a book about nature, but it could fit for other categories: a woman in science or a book written by an indigenous author since she is a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.

For a different challenge, I read Potiki by Patricia Grace from New Zealand. It was quite good. This book could also fit the category of written by an indigenous author. She is Māori.

Nice! I'll be reading Braiding Sweetgrass later this year. I'm still seeing it pulled out for display in the nature section of my local bookstores — I'm glad that people are taking such an interest. It's also pretty neat that her publisher is even printing with more disposable materials, for those of us eBook avoiders.
