Dinah | 3 comments I think this book was for a younger audience or was straightforwardly written, I read it around 2012 and it seemed to have been maybe an older book. It was set in during the Civil War but since the main character was a young boy, the storyline rarely left the town if at all (I don't remember if it did or not). I vividly remember an emotional goodbye scene with the boy and his brother that happened in his backyard near the hay/wood pile. I don't remember if any of his siblings die, however. Another event was that the train that carried Lincoln's body traveled through/near the town. I believe it was a pretty short book, but that is not certain.
