There will be 12 readathons this year (and every year lol), and we need themes for each one of those. The books read should fit in those themes for you, but the themes won’t be so narrow and strict that they hinder your reading.

description

We’ll like some input from you on the themes. The ones we have so far found are:

-Read Books under 200 pages
-Reread books
-Read adapted books (books that have been adapted into movies and seasons, etc.)
-Tropes (Please comment for these)
-Myths & Legends
-Retellings
-Read Classics
-Underrated Books
-Hyped Books
-Read new books (or not previously read by you) of your favourite author (only one author will be read by a person)
-Read A Book of more than 500 pages or 700 (Pages read would count in this one)
-Thieves, Conmen & Heists
-Coming of Age/set in High School/College
-Pirates, Mermaids, Sirens and other sea creatures.
-Family
-Indie authors/small press
-Enemies-to-lovers trope
-Fairy Tales
-Banned Books
-Heartbreaking reads
-Space
-Travel
-Slow-burn Romance
-7 in 7 Readathon (Read 7 things in 7 days)

Are these themes good enough? And are there any more you’d like to recommend?

Theme already selected:

January 2019- Books that have been on our TBR for more than a year (or the oldest books if you have not been on GR for more than a year).
February 2019- Read books from new authors only (new means new for you. One book from one author only)
March 2019- Read Books that have been on your TBR for less than a month.
April 2019- Read books from series.
May 2019- Read adapted books (books that have been adapted into movies and seasons (TV Shows), etc.)
June 2019-Strong Friendships.
July 2019-

Susy (susysstories) Sounds good (except for the DNF: I hardly ever DNF and the ones that I did give up on, I'm definitely never picking back up again hahaha)
Maybe the 200 pages should be 300? Makes it a bit easier....

I'm doing Books to movies/tv/stage in 2019 (I'm a movie/tv show freak lol, so very much looking forward to that) so would love that theme.

Books that are a part of a series maybe?

Shannara (httpwwwshannarareads2com) | 149 comments I love having themes for the readathons!! And I like the ones listed. Especially the ones that get me to read what I otherwise wouldn’t read. Super psyched for next year!!!

Yes I knew DNF would be not so popular lol. I was also thinking about increasing it to 300 pages. And I am too a movie/TV show freak so that's a great idea! !

But series, maybe it could be like finish the series you started or something like that

That's great Shannara. I can't wait for 2019 either.

Susy (susysstories) Mmm, not sure if finishing series is doable in a one week marathon.....

Or perhaps continuing. Sometimes we start a series and leave it in between.

They're all really good, but I'm with Susy about the dnf one, I dont dnf books unless it's necessary which defs means I will not and refuse to read it again so ? Haha sorry

But I love the other themes listed. You could also do specific settings or tropes we need to read
Such as, read a book that is set in a high school/castle. Or read a book that involves an enemies-to-lovers trope ?

Just a few suggestions

Hi Tammie, so sorry for such a late response. That sounds cool. Readathons are currently on hold but we will be bringing them back real soon :)
