I believe that is a brilliant idea! I think you should start first Percy and set an example for me to follow. I know that you love to just write but I would love to hear about the book you are writing now.
So here's my story. It's about a kid named Nick who lives in a city with his mom and dog, hudson, and always finds a way to get in trouble! When him and his mom take a trip to the beach, they are attacked by a weird eagle lady looking thing, which he doesn't know is a harpy! That's when his dog shows up after he was left in a kennel, and saves them! But his dog is not a dog! Nick finds out his dog is a hellhound in disguise! He is brought to a camp for demigods like him, where he is trained to go on an important quest! Meanwhile, Zoey and Kaylee, two girls living in the country, are also attacked by a harpy (you find out why later in my book) and are brought to the same camp where they go on the same quest as nick! Do you think they can do it? Read on to find out!
Characters:
Nick Age:11 Weapon: Sword
Zoey Age:11 Weapon: Magic Daggers
Kaylee Age:6 Weapon: None, (doesn't go on quest: to young)
Kiera Age:12 Weapon: Magic Coin: turns into spear or sword
Jessica Age:12 Weapon: Bow & Arrow
Spike Age:12 Weapon: Sword

Wow I am impressed with your creative ideas about your book. I can not wait to read it when it becomes the number one seller at bookstores. I am really glad that I am related to you, Percy. You could become a famous author one day.
A Tidal Flame Novel: (Hopefully to become a series)
New Moon
Zannella is a senoir at Oceanside High School in New York and lives in a loft with her mother, Marie. She has a twin sister Nexi who lives with her father, Daniel, in a huge mansion. If Marie and Daniel are husband and wife, why are they separated? They are still together and in love but, becuase of their background they are forced to not see each other(in public). In Zannella's point of view she tells her family story and tries to bond their differences. It all starts in Sailor's Cove where Marie and Daniel met.
"My family is special and not in a everyone is specal kind of way. But the journey to finally bring together my parents in harmony was difficult but worth it. Also, who knew I would have a forbidden love like my parents along the way. There was a point in time when I could have lost my most prized possesion, my scale tail, to my sister. She is worth any obstacle even if it meant trying to unfold the mystery of the New Moon."
The book is a work in progress but I am proud of what I have created within myself. If anyone has any ideas for me or questions, feel free to ask. Thank you for your consideration! I hope others get to embark on writing a story worth reading!

I have one novella, I've finished it but haven't gotten around to editing it or anything. It's about a teenage girl named Alex Schafferin, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world where the one person in charge, The Leader, is evil and hungry for power; and she's willing to do anything to get it and keep it forever. Alex decides to run away from her town, and discovers a secret beyond the borders within which she was contained for her whole life. On her way to try and defeat The Leader she also finds out a secret about herself which could change the outcome of the entire story!
It's told from first person, but I find that sometimes with first person narratives that I can't really feel what the character is feeling. It is told from their perspective but it might as well not be because it's basically just telling the events occurring around them and not within their own heart, mind, and soul. So I tried to include quite a bit of Alex actually describing how she's feeling throughout the book. And I also tried to avoid going off on tangents; I had Alex say what she was feeling and what was going through her head, but I didn't want to be like she was in the middle of a battle scene, and suddenly was thinking "Oh no! He's about to shoot me! I'm so scared...like that time when I was at the dentist getting my teeth pulled out...[insert lengthy back story here]". That could get a little tiresome after a while, I think we could agree.
Wow! I love the stories that you write about Alice! You should seriously become an author or something in the business of literacy arts.

It's about a teenage girl named Ara who lives in a magic world! In this world there is six different smaller worlds that make up the world all separate like planets but held close together by an invisible magic thread. The worlds are very different, but only work together if there is a force that is trying to destroy them all. Each world has a different clan. Winter, Wildfire, Sky, Life/nature, Equivalence, and Deathrider. Ara was born in the Life world and would soon gain her powers at the age of 16-18, and she is 15. When she finds out the Deathrider world has captured many people from different worlds to try and use their powers to take over all worlds and possibly form them into one, she goes into action. But what can she do when she doesn't have her powers yet? You'll soon find out!
And that was a summary of my first book in the World Healer series, Escape from the Life Planet! Hope you liked it!

Alice, I know what you mean about it being tricky when picking what perspective you wanna write from. One of my older writing projects started as first person, and then about half way through I decided it would be better off as third person. It sucked going through and changing everything from "I" to "she", but I think it was necessary for the story I was trying to write at the time. Kudos to you for wanting to making sure your readers know what your character is thinking and feeling. I can't stand reading a book that has a lot of potential, but the character just sort of does things and never reacts to them. It's kind of like "Well, if the main character doesn't even seem to care, why the heck should I?" I think that since you care so much about conveying your character's feelings, that you'll have better rounded characters because of it. :)
Wildwind77, I like that you have your character stuck unable to use her powers yet. It sounds like it will make things a lot trickier for her and make for a more interesting read than if she was all ready to go right off the bat. :) Also, the idea about capturing people from different worlds to use their powers/form them into one sounds very interesting. Makes you want to read more to see what happens!

And I love your story Wildwind. Those are the kind of books that I would read the blurb and then automatically start begging my mom to buy every single book in the series...and from there, every single book by that author. It's creative, and sounds like it'll be awesome!
I agree with Alice!
Wildwind, your book was a book that I would forget about my series and just read! It sounds amazing! It seems like you put in everything to really make it true fantasy! Magic, thrill, danger, weakness, power, lots of travel, and powers! If that book ever gets published, I look forward to reading it!

Wildwind77,
You have such a creative story in your hands and I believe that you should definitely continue to write on. I like that you created your own world for such a character that has an adventure to embark on. Also, the fact that you are making a series out of it makes you a determined writer. You just make me want to read the whole series now, hopefully you can make that happen. If you just write and not think of any issues in the world, you will surely become a successful author. Good luck to you and your writing!

A girl named Sabrina is a daughter of the goddess Aphrodite! But the thing is, she hates being the center of attention, and never dresses fashionably! She gets made fun of at school a lot, but when she gets talked to by the goddess Demeter, saying that Ares the god of war and her mother are at war, and he stole her magic amulet and hid it, but the amulet gives Aphrodite most of her power and beauty, like a weapon! Demeter tells her to go on a quest to retrieve the amulet, where she gets a visit by a special visitor in her final battle! Can she learn to fight? Can she save her mother? Can she stop Ares from wiping out Aphrodite for more power? All questions answered in my book, Aphrodite's Amulet!
How do you like this story. I wrote the prologue last night.
Playing Favorites by Percy
Prologue
I walked down the sidewalk, regretting my life choices. Rain dripped down from the gray sky, ever so often pelting the top of my head. It was a Friday, and everyone was hanging out with their "favorites". I was almost home when I heard whimpering in the bushes. It was something that would change my life. Why are all people always playing favorites when we can all be friends.

You guys have to read the prologue from JJHeart's "Exile From Olympus"! It is so good!
Prologue~
Run.
I hear his howl. So loud my ears bleed. He's hunting me. I can't out run him now, my powers are to weak. Curse you Aphrodite, I shouldn't of helped you. I knew you'd side with him.
I feel his freezing breath on me. I can't let him catch me. One wrong step and I'm doomed.
I can't believe this is happening. I did nothing. It wasn't even my fault. My own brothers and sisters set me up. Now the one I care for the most will suffer along with me.
The pain. I feel his claws tearing my leg. I have been caught. Why me? Fates please help me now. I pray that Jace will be protected.
The wolf walks slowly towards me, turning back into his true form. Ares. The god of war, my brother, and the one who despises me the most.

The main character is:
Name: Yttrium Vanadium (last name: Unknown)
Age: 14
'As the water crashes over my head, I feel the urge to scream out, but I know if I do I will have no chance of survival at all. Never before have I had a gut wrenching urge like this one. I feel it pounding in my soul, my very being. Silently, I pray for strength, knowing I will not make it on my own. My lungs scream for air, my shackled wrists ache from my staining against the bonds, and my eyes grope for something other than salty blackness. Finally, I feel my air waste away and I sink into what I suspect is pure perpetual oblivion. I dream of darkness and then suddenly, like someone yanking off a blindfold, I can see people rushing to and fro all dressed in white. Two people sit staring at me through glass looking very worried. A mother and her son; they seem to be looking strait at me...
I wake to hushed voices. I open my eyes to see the doctor and the two people who were behind the glass.
“How long did I sleep?” I ask as the room falls silent.
“About 32 hours.” the doctor replied.
“What’s wrong with me? Please, I need to know.”
“What do you remember, Yttrium?”
“I remember most of my name and that I was named after a two different types of metal.”
“I mean about why you’re sore, stuff like that.”
“I remember being handcuffed or something and being pushed into the water. The water was so dark, warm, and salty, I ran out of air and passed out. I don’t remember anything else including my last name or where I’m from.”
“Can you guess what’s wrong with you? Do you feel any different than before?
“No, I feel sore but nothing’s broken that I can tell, um…I do feel like I’m missing something though.” I say confused. The doctor holds out his stethoscope for me. I grab it and put it on my ears. I hold the cold disk to the chest my shirt and listen. I hear my breathing. Suddenly I realize why everyone had looked startled earlier.
I had no heartbeat. By definition I was dead. I didn’t feel dead, but I was.

The book is about a dystopian world where Earth has been catastrophically destroyed by global warming. The ice caps have melted and water now covers 93% of the Earth. Only parts of North America are left above water, and few of these regions are habitable. And to top it all off genetic mutations have brought giants back to life.
The main characters are Lina, who is a half giant half human, and Tear, who lives in Haven, the city that humans have managed to put together and prosper in. The giants and humans have a tense relationship, so when Tear is captured by the government because of his rebellion, he is sent into the outside to ' research' the giants, which he and the government both know is a death sentence. After all, that's what happened to his father.
Lina has grew up as a outcast in her giant clan. Her only friend is Librar, who is Word Keeper of their clan. Her mom was a warrior giant that was killed in battle and her dad she knows was a fancy 'saved' person dumb enough to try and get close to her clan. When Librar is exiled from the clan she goes on a mission to find him. On the way she meets Tear and they make a alliance: her to keep him alive and him to help her find the rebel safe place, a place that is thought of as myth for her, a possibility for Tear, and a dream for Librar. Together, with the help of a funny new character and some strange events along the way, Lina and Tear work toward finding Librar, safety, and answers to what they both feel toward each other: recognition.
If y'all want spoilers, let me know!!!

The series is "Followers of Torments". The first book "Out of the Darkness" introduces you to the first of two settings, as well as the main character. Right now, though the book is available, I am in the process of revising the first part, so a new edition will be coming out in the near future.
The culture that inhabits the subterranean realm is called the Melkreschen. It is made up of dark skinned peoples who are drunk on maternal power. The men are second class citizens at best. Their primary occupation is playing the political game to increase the political power of their family within the clan structure, and the clan's power within the society. Their primary entertainment are the fights in the Arenas, around which are found the cities.
Within the Arenas is a completely different culture in which the MEN dominate the status ranks. The main character (right now, he's called "Nameless", though that may be changing with the revision) is born with an unknown father. He is raised as a second tier fighter - a Silk with high potential. He wins his way to freedom as a young man, but he has absolutely no social skills, and many identity issues because of the way he was raised.
He is sent into the ranks of the local Arena city's guards to learn at least the basics, but finds himself at odds with some of the practices the free use to increase their political standing. He opens a personal war against these customs built into the culture, but looses and is sentenced to death. He survives by running away from the city that knows him. (End of Out of the Darkness)
Into the Sunlits picks up where Out of the Darkness leaves off. Nameless has a fighter he has captured in tow, and works his way through the political system to bring his fighter back to the Arena he left. Along the way, he builds up his own political power by participating in the custom he has sworn to destroy. Then, everything falls apart on him again when his fighter wins his freedom because the fighter is called by the one of the culture's deities to become an avatar, which gives Nameless a huge political boost, but removes any chance for future political gain from his slave-now-free champion. With the slave he won during his political rise, he decides to search for other potential fighters in the second setting, and so leaves the Melkreschen Realm for this purpose. (End of Into the Sunlits)
Remember the Shadows picks up where Into the Sunlits leaves off, and is the one I'm currently working on. Nameless assembles a new "stable" of fighters, but only one has the right characteristics to be really considered for the Arenas. He also begins to learn what he is - a faerie half breed. I know where I want this one to go, but I'm not sure if it will get there. I'm hoping that Nameless will do some major growing, because this one is not as action packed as the first two.
The last two books of the series will see Nameless suffering an identity crisis (And Keep this in Mind) and a life altering decision that will either see him returning to the Melkreschen Realm with a new purpose, or him wandering off to become another warm body living in the Sunlits (I am You while You are I).
Again, I'm hoping things will head one way, but right now, I'm along for as much of the ride as the readers. Hoping, and achieving with this story are two different beasts. So far, it's been fun. I just hope it remains so, and that I have enough skill to do "Remember the Shadows" proper justice.
If you have made it this far, and want to see a sample, feel free to wander over and take a look at this blog post: http://wp.me/p4Uq5a-2D (It's the first chapter of Out of the Darkness [unrevised])
