I have made many many roleplays in the past but INSTINCT is by far one of my favorite concepts. I have had all out dragon wars, nordic griffins, wolf packs, kingdom-style big cats, and many more. INSTINCT, however, takes on an approach I haven't yet tried before. Instead of looking into the future or creating a new universe all together, I've decided to look into the past.
INSTINCT is set in the Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene Epoch. It focuses on two separate species, known well for being rivals during this time. The Canis Dirus, or Dire Wolf, and the Smilodon/Homotherium or Saber/Scimitar Tooth Cats.
There are four groups in total who live in the particular region that "INSTINCT" focuses on. (I can't' give exact locations, but somewhere in North/Central/South America.) Both populations have separate religions and beliefs, but they share a sort of "primitive language". For instance, some words are shared in meaning between the two groups. Kyt Means "Fire" and Nuk" means "Wolf" so the name of the largest wolf pack, "Kyt'al Nuk" means "Wolf of Fire" Another example might include the smaller lion pride, "Cobhet'na Ha". "Cobhet" means "Black" and "Ha" means "Water", making the name mean "The Black Water"
There are many words like this used in many of the locations in INSTINCT, and for the sake of consistency, there is a "Primal Vocabulary" thread that has each word and it's direct translation. This language is fictional and not derivative of any languages known on earth at the moment. Just simply a story writer having fun.
There are four main populations within INSTINCT. Kyt'al Nuk, the largest wolf pack in the area has complete control over the more Western part of the region and rule their subjects with iron claws. They are strict, violent, and out of control. Though they have owned the land for a while, not nearly the same extent as "Archet Na'hal" or "The Pack of The Old Ones". They have owned the more South Western part of the territory for as long as any one could remember. They are secluded and hidden within a thick and treacherous forest. They are so hidden in fact, that no one has seen a Archet Na'hal pack member in years, this raises concern for the pack. So much so that at the beginning of this plot, Kyt'al Nuk believes that Archet Na'hal has died of starvation or sickness. Before the current plot events of INSTINCT, there was a huge saber tooth cat pride that controlled the entire Eastern and South Eastern region. They were powerful, would hunt in large groups, and were certainly a force to be reckon with. However, once the "War of Teeth" began, this group split due to alternate opinions in the pride. One of these groups became Kychet Net. They are certainly the largest of the two, ruling over the North Eastern territory. They do what they please and don't allow any of the other groups to control them or change their actions in any way. They feel like the population of dire wolves in the area need to be eradicated and that any cat who doesn't think the same is a fool. However, just south of them lies Cobhet'na Ha, a passive and peaceful pride. They sport a smaller population but are none the less very powerful. They believe that coexistence with the dire wolves is very much possible and that the two species can become allies if they come to a better compromise.
While the wolf packs live within earth's natural structures, (Cave systems, canyons, etc), the saber-tooth cat prides live within ancient temples, built long long ago. These structures aren't built by humans for we do not come to fruition until the early holocene, and by that time we lack the technology to use such intricate architecture. Somebody built these old decrepit temples and palaces, far before the first wolf or cat stepped foot in this area. Who these people are, however, is a mystery to be unfolded.
INSTINCT is about life. How we are all timed and how we need to take action in our lives to get an outcome we really want. An outcome that is better for us and better for everyone else. Sure, we can plan out our whole lives but, nothing in life ever goes according to plan. We must trust our hearts, listen to our guts, and follow our instinct.
