Amelie C1 Summary
6 demigods and a satyr start on a journey to the House of Hades. They need to save Annabeth and Percy from Tartarus and shut the doors of death so no more monsters can escape into the mortal world. New and old enemies are battled. New skills are learned and friends are saved. (53)

Analysis
I’d like to bring your attention to Percy Jackson. Percy is brave, smart, and stubborn (40). When in Tartrus, even though it is the scariest place in the world, Percy tries to cheer up Annabeth by making a joke. Percy is a static character. Even though he is a huge part of this book, he doesn’t change much. He is the same brave, smart, and stubborn leader that he has always been (96-97, 574-575). Percy and Annabeth need to get out of Tartarus. Even though they are stuck down there, Percy makes joke to keep them going. He doesn’t give up. He keeps going so they can get to the doors of death. “Next to her, Percy coughed”. “This place smells like my ex-stepfather.” “Annabeth managed a weak smile.” (40) Percy is smart in Tartarus. Annabeth and he befriend a titan who helped them throughout their journey (114). Percy is stubborn. Even when he wants to give up. He keeps on going. He keeps walking and trekking on through Tartarus until he reaches the doors of death. Then from there on out Annabeth and he cut the chains and ride the elevators up to the House of Hades. They make it up to the house and still have more monsters to fight. Even though he is not feeling good, he fights the monsters. “Percy and Annabeth were on their feet, looking weak and dazed, but their swords were drawn” (560) As you can see, Percy Jackson is a static character but still a good one because he is the same brave, smart, and stubborn leader from the beginning of the book, to the end of the book. Opinion
This book was okay. I think the series gets less and less interesting as it goes by. It just kind of drags on and is hard to read. All of the books seem like they have the same plot. Something happens to a certain group of people or person and they have to figure out how to fix their problem. In this book Annabeth and Percy fall into Tartarus and need to get out. (33-36) The series also has where the other demigods in the book have to travel to a far away distance where they run into Gods who aren’t supposed to be talking to these demigods. For example in this book Hazel runs into her father (223-226) and Hecate (18-29). Another thing I have noticed in “The Heroes of Olympus” series is that the demigods continue their journey, fight some monster or enemies, and save those that needed to be saved from the beginning. The 6 demigods and Coach Hedge continue to the House of Hades, fight a magician and her army, and save Annabeth and Percy (532-552) at the end of this book. Overall it wasn’t my favorite book and it did take me awhile to read, but it was good. (204)
