The first line-up looks amazing, I love John Chu's short fiction. And you can't go wrong with Kowal and Yang. I haven't read any short fiction by Newitz, but I'm pretty sure I'll like it. The other two are new to me.

Hey, and you can even do it, if you select "other" as country! Last time I tried something like that, I got a "sorry, not for your country" - which I HATE!

Here’s a life hack: The Tor site is kind of hilarious, it offers a free ebook every month but only for US/Canada residents. Meaning when you enter your email and choose “other” for country, it blocks you. Hmmmm, eeny, meeny, miny, moe, wonder what else to enter? I then entered US and voilat! Here is your free ebook.

That’s seriously the worst geo location check I have ever encountered which makes me think they don’t actually care to limit their distribution ^_^

I was able to get Tor books, Baen books and Humble bundles when I lived in France

Yep I got my email this morning. I told them I was from the US when I signed up 🤪 There’s a Lady Astronaut one from Mary Robinette Kowal in there along with 5 others.

I also got the Tor.com bundle this morning. If there are enough of us who subscribe, we could do a separate thread for discussion of Tor bundle stories.

Same for me at a book club, you don't get a nice free book because of where you live even if you read English. What does it matter if we all end up buying the books from the same publishing companies anyway???

Yay! This should make it easier for me to keep track of Tor's short stories, assuming my email provider cooperates.

I honestly thought they had given up since it had been so long since the second installment.

I like downloading them onto my phone. That way I've always got something to read and they don't take up a lot of your time.

Of course all of these stories are free on Tor.com, no matter where in the world you are.

I don’t know about each and every Tor.com published ebook, but I do know that all the stories in the books I’ve linked are on their website, which is free :) The fact that some of them are also available as collected ebooks, currently free, is a nice bonus for those who prefer reading on an ereader to reading online.

Enough about that, let’s concentrate on reading these free stories, in whatever preferred format is available to each of us!
