I hope you enjoy it! I read it about a year ago and really liked it! I have the sequel sitting on my shelf, I'm hoping to get to it later this month.

The blurb says; A Spiced Up Harry Potter for adults... Hmm okay not really what I was expecting... This will be an adventure!

* It moves really fast. I'd be surprised if anyone needed three months to get through it.
* The mc Kvothe (rhymes with "oath") is largely a vehicle for wish-fulfillment. The appeal is escapism, not creating a realistic character.
* Many readers note the plot similarities to HP. However, the author is steeped in genre history, so his influences go back farther than that. Personally, I detect a lot of Roger Zelazny in the quasi-scientific explanations for things, antihero archetype, and magic system. It's also probable that he read Assassin's Apprentice.
* The book is structured more like a group of novellas than a complete novel, so look for mini-arcs and not a larger plot structure. None of the main mysteries are even partly resolved by the end of this book, or even the sequel.

As this book is just a basic chapter structure, instead of having "Part 1", "Part 2", etc discussion threads, I am going to break it down like I have in one of my other groups - i.e. character discussion, story discussion, etc.
