Fantasy and Vampire Book Club discussion

This is to help those in need of the series clean up. We do something every year in many different groups but I'm going to make this as simple as possible.
You can
1. finish the books needed to complete a series up to the beginning of 2018 or 2019. You decide whether to read 2019 books or not as some cannot get a hold of book until past the next year. Read at least up to all the novels to the end of 2018.
2. finish all the novellas of a series. (You go girl (boy)!) but not needed for the series completion for novels. You can count it as a series finish if this is all you needed. You decide on novellas.
3. you can count one book that you need if that is all you needed. Only the new book released this year read, that's good too as 1 book, 1 series complete (maintained yea!)
4. start a new series this year? Well if you finish the series this year, count in as a completed series as you are not adding an unfinished series to your pile. (and great that you found a new enjoyable series!)
5. only series with 3 book count as a series, sorry duologies. So if you read the last of a trilogy, count it here as 1 book, 1 series complete.
6. Count book only if you completed the series, this is the only tough part. You must read a series up to the books published in 2018 to count as a book read.

So a count total will look like,

15 books/ 4 series because In Death isn't counted.
Since everyone has a different number of books for series, the book count is the goal and everyone will have their own goals. List it below and see if you can get there.

I want to finish a few series, but I don't completely understand the rules. How do I do this, if I want to finish, say the Midnight Breed series?

Can I count it 1 series if there's only a novella left to finish off a series. Like there are 4 books in the Tangled series and then a 4.5, the last short story of 88 pages.

Quick question - If I want to reread a series because a new book comes out in it can I count the reread books or does only the new book count. Just want to make sure I am counting the right number. Thank you.

That takes me up to 57 books across 15 series and leaves some room for any ARCs and new books that I wanted to read as well. That's not all the series that I need to complete, but for some I have only read the first book so haven't added them yet. Going to be busy!

Definitely. This is for you to get what you need done to feel that you completed the series.

As long as you read at least one new book in the series to finish it. If you need to catch up and read the whole series first, definitely count it as books read towards finishing the series.

You have to read at least the last books needed in the series from before January 1st, 2019 to call a series complete, and if a new book is published this year it is your prerogative whether you will read it. The exception is if you already have read all the books of a series, then you have to read one from this year.

If you have read all of the Mercy Thompson books up to now and want to read the new one that comes out in March, Storm Cursed, it will count as a series finished with one new book read to complete it.

So for the Midnight Breed you must read up to Claimed in Shadows published in 2018, to call the series completed. You do not HAVE to read Break the Day which is supposed to come out sometime in 2019 but you can. This is so you don't have to go out and buy all the new releases this year.

I got 25 series with 67 books, I keep saying I'm going to dump but haven't done too much of that. Did not keep track too well.

This was a more popular yearly challenge and really helps me clean up those series I start so I post it for 2020 again. Hope to see you there
