Kerri_M | 590 comments My 2018 challenge worked well, in that I read 78 books that were on my TBR as at 31 Dec 2017 in 2018.

The only problem was that I think I added as nearly as many or more books to my TBR during the year

So personal challenge for 2019 -
1. Again - 75% of the books that I read in 2019 to be off my TBR as at 31 Dec 2018
AND
2. My TBR not to be any longer at end of 2019 than it is today (cleaning up my TBR today, deleting a lot of "maybes")
AND
3. Remain up to date in those series I am currently up to date in
AND
4. Get up to date in 3 more series currently on the go.

Kerri_M | 590 comments Time for an update from the nerdy stats reader - so far going well with my goals,

48 books - of which 45 were from my Dec 18 TBR. 23 read & 25 audio. 17 by A.A

38 different authors - 16 different aussie authors

Total of 15,306 "pages" (converting audio to pages)

18 Aussie author books

37 were part of a series

35 Crime / Mystery / Thriller genre, followed by YA with 5 titles.

The only thing that surprised me a little is the number of different authors - more than I would have thought.

Joss (jossdi) | 78 comments Oh dear! Do you really mean one should read their TBR books? My list just keeps getting longer and longer. Good on you! Tonight I am reading a book I purchased three years ago, but the pull of a new book always wins hands down.

Kerri_M | 590 comments One side effect has been that I think twice before adding anything to the TBR , and not buying as many books either!

What I really wanted to do was make some progress with some of the series I have been reading. Which I have been doing, but I keep starting new ones! Its a bit of a see-saw I am afraid.

Joss (jossdi) | 78 comments Yes, I can see that Kerri. I love a good series more than any other stand alone book.I guess it isabout not wanting to let go of characters yhat have won a tiny place in your heart. Like a book you don’t want to finish because then the people would go and you would be left bereft

Kerri_M | 590 comments 2019 stats...

Books read [Goal 84] 91 books read, down on last year thanks to a crazy year at work and my part time job turning into a fulltime+ job

TBR read [Goal 75%] 88% were from my TBR - but it still sitting at about 1,000

76% were part of a series - made good progress with my series reading in 2019 - got 8 series up to date during the year and made good progress with some others, but I started at least 5 new series....

Average rating 3.78/5 - so happy with that too

(yes, I run a spreadsheet, I am a nerd afterall)

A good year's reading, helped by all the challenges, and recommendations from others in the group, so thanks everyone!

Mari | 508 comments Congrats Kerri. Love your series goals - these books accumulate so quickly and I have found it so hard to keep up to date!
