Hi - love seeing Aussies here! If you haven't yet, check out Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for Nigeria. Love her writing!

Welcome, Catherine. I have yet to read Henning Mankell and feel much guilt about that, particularly given the volume of translated detective/mystery novels I read, and I own 3 or 4 unread Mankell novels to boot. Help me break through in 2019. Which Wallender is your favorite?

Thank you!
Thank you!

Joining in at the 11th hour and it's been a fun project seeing where I've read around the world in 2019. Most of my reading is Australian new releases but I like to read widely and this is another great way to vary my reading.
My other reading is listed on my profile up to about 170 ish books so far this year.
My list is here:

I decided in 2018 to try to read books from different countries, but I'm doing it very slooowly. :) My interpretation of this book tour is the country where the author is born. So far I've read 26.
It's a bit too late to join the 2019 challenge, so I'll be joining the 2020 one.
Welcome Vya - we’re all reading at our own pace so travel as slow as you’d like! Looking forward to join joining us on our 2020 travels. I see you already have scheduled out some destinations - way to go!

Hi Kim - welcome! I think we welcomed you in another thread, but if not apologies and a big welcome! Nice that you’ve been able to focus on Australia - there’s a lot of ground to cover Down Under!

Hi Rita - welcome, we have a few folks from Australia in the group - you’re in good company! Nayomi Munaweera has written a couple of books set in Sri Lanka. Both are outstanding.

Oh good, I think I have one of hers on my Kindle. I haven’t read her before.

I’ve read one of hers - unfortunately wasn’t a hit with me, worth a second go around though.

My favorites from 2019 have been: Ghost Wall by Sarah Moss (England) and the Picture Book Islandborn by Junot Díaz (Dominican Republic).
Happy travels, happy reading.
Welcome (back) Karen! Great to have you traveling around the world with us. Andrea is hitting the road with some food reads in 2020 so you might find some good titles there. We’re all over the place around the world - I bet you’ll find great reads. We’re looking forward to “stealing” ideas from you too. Happy trails!

Some interesting titles there, Catherine. Another one I'm looking forward to, set in Trinidad, is Love After Love by Ingrid Persaud (out in March/April, I believe).
I just realised I don't have anything for the Caribbean in my food list for 2020! How?
