Hello fellow King and Constant Readers, welcome to a new year. This month I'm starting us off with a book of short stories. I thought with all the hussle and bussle of the last month and after reading two extremely long books back to back we needed a bit of a breather. In 2018, I thought that I would tackle most of King's smaller books. 1) because this was a new group and I didn't know how people were going to react to each month's picks and 2) I wanted to actually read the books ON TIME. If you know what I mean. I'll be rolling over Christine this month and for those that need to do the same thing...having a collection of short stories might be easier to handle. On to the short stories and their movie adaptations.

1408-1408 (2007) Great movie adaptation starring John Cusack and Samual L. Jackson. One of my favorite short story adaptations.

All That You Love Will Be Carried Away- Same title (2004) is a short film only 28 mins long

Autopsy Room Four- Same title (2003) Another short film only 22 mins long.

In the Deathroom-Same title (2013) Short film 30 mins long

Luckey Quarter- same title (2005) seriously short film 11 mins long

Lunch at the Gotham Cafe- Gotham Cafe (2005) another short film 14 mins

That Feeling, You Can Only Say What it is in French- Same title (2011) short film 14 mins.

Riding the Bullet- Same title (2004) full length movie

The Road Virus Heads North (2006) 43 min movie

The Man in the Black Suit (2004) short film 22 mins

Through Stephen King's "Dollar Babies" program film students can buy the movie rights to one of King's short stories for $1. Some of these shorts are available on Youtube. If you find a website that plays the shorts let me know. I've only found a few.

Hope everyone enjoyed last years picks and like this years picks as well. These are some of my faves that I want to re-read that I haven't picked up since I was in High School and some that I haven't read yet.

Annie | 7 comments Yaaayy!! Thank you for continuing this group! ❤

Josie (thegeekmiserjocus) | 8 comments I echo Annie's and Markie's sentiments, thank you for continuing! Considering I had a major slump last year, I didn't get to partake in all the read-alongs. And so happens I got this month's copy at hand, so sweeeeet!

Vanessa Grimes | 5 comments Gonna love it 😊

Spidermonkey | 2 comments I would really like to participate in this read-a-long but I think I won't be able to :/ I want to read King's books in publication order and I've only read Carrie and 'Salem's Lot so Everything's Eventual is not the next one (even tho I do own it on my shelf). I still hope that I can be a part of this group and chat about King and his works and follow other people's progress with this read-a-long :)

Hiya Spider,

No worries! You can definitely chat with us. I started this "group" years ago. I wish I would have done it in publication order, but what can you do lol. Good luck with your King reads this year.

Yay! So glad to see the group growing! <3 I'm not gonna be joining in on this months read because I read it last year (apart from the Little Sisters of Eluria bc I didn't want to spoil anything from the Dark Tower series lol). I actually just picked up Under the Dome. Ugh. Loving it so far but this thing is a chunker. Wish me luck, haha.

Good luck on Under the Dome! It actually reads really quickly. Back when my kids were babies I was able to read it in a few days. It was THAT gripping. Hope to see you next month with CUJO :D

I'm LOVING it so far! Crazy how fast everything is moving! And unfortunately I'm skipping next month too lol I read that one recently as well. But I'll be back to it in March! And I'll still be on here discussing with you guys :)

Vanessa Grimes | 5 comments Maybe I'll finish this book by the end of the month. lol

Kimberly | 35 comments I am doing Stephen King a little different this year (reading them in publication order) but I will come back and chime when I get to the books. I read Salem's lot this month and loved it! Hope you were all successful in getting this one done :).

Same. I am reading this in publication order. Just read Salem's lot this month and loved it!

Malena :-) (cantaeltango) | 1 comments This is the Last book I read last year so I have it pretty fresh. I noticed a kind of theme with some stories, you can read in the introduction of each one how is THE story of its topic ("this is my haunted hotel room story", "this is my autopsy room story",and a few more)
The stories were kinda simple but effective, and very fun to read. The autopsy room one was my favorite.
Ps, sorry for my terrible English :-)

Not terrible at all. I'm liking the stories too. I wish my audiobook had all 14 stories, it only has 5 so I'm going to have to read the rest...which is kind of a bummer lol. I like listening on my way to work.

Jackie (goodreadscomrumbelle517) | 11 comments I'm not following along, but I finished reading this one last month. Loved Autopsy in Room Four, The Man in the Black Suit, 1408, L.T.'s Theory of Pets, and Riding the Bullet. I thought Theory of Pets, Room Four, and Riding the Bullet were actually kind of funny.
