Are you planning on completing the BYL Reading Challenge this year? Then this is the place for you!

The purpose of this group is to share our progress with the challenge and get recommendations and inspiration for the challenges.

A few notes and thoughts:

1. You do NOT have to finish the challenge. This isn't a contest. It's not about checking all the boxes (although that can be fun and satisfying!). Instead, it's about picking up books you might not have otherwise. It's about dedicating time to read as often as you can. It's about enjoying the act of reading and making it an important part of your life.

2. You can absolutely double up. I made the rule in our house that you can double up twice on the challenges. Otherwise, my kids would find a way to read 3 books that fit all the challenges, lol. But you can double up as much as you want. It's your challenge! Do what works best for you.

3. Have fun! I hope you all enjoy the challenge and I look forward to chatting and checking in with you all year!

Emily

Jennifer | 3 comments We are excited to get started! We are working on BYL level 1 right now- we finished level 0 this year and the prehistory unit and currently we are in week 4. We plan to use our curriculum reads, the family reading crates and some of our top picks and TBR lists to complete these challenges for 2019. Thanks for creating this group. We are looking forward to reading and vlogging our results each month. Happy New Year to our BYL family!!! Let’s make 2019 our best reading year ever!! 📚✌🏻

Jennifer Heystek | 4 comments Maybe a silly question, but I’m brand new and have never done a reading challenge before 😊 Is there a correct way to keep track of the books we’ve read and the category they fall under? I’m excited to be here. Thanks for setting this up!

Not silly! I don't think there is one right way. I just jot it down right on the checklist beside the challenge. I've also written out a chart in my bullet journal where I can note which books my kids have read for the challenges.

Amelyn Randall (amelynrandall) | 1 comments Better late than never! I have been behind on watching my YouTube videos due to illness, and I just found the one about this challenge just now. I’m in! I love to read and want to stretch myself even more this year. Thanks for this list, and this group to share the experience!
