Tari (thann) For Item 12 Buddy Read, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to buddy-read a cozy mystery with me. That's the genre I read, and I didn't know if anyone else liked cozies or not. Thought it might be worth a shot to find out, thanks!

I might be interested later in the year, but currently I'm bogged down with studies and all I'm getting to read are textbooks.

That's one of my favorite genres.. I would be game anytime - with a week's notice or so. If you want to pick a book, as long as I can get it from my small town library - I'd love to.

I'll keep the library thing in mind and let you know--I'll send you a friend request on GR then I can simply message you when I plan to read a cozy that I think you might be able to get. Do you use Overdrive/Libby or does your library have Hoopla? You can get a lot of ebooks to borrow that way, just a thought, I know ebooks aren't everyone's fave :) Thanks again!

I’m not sure about all of these books, but here is a list of lent reading ideas I found on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4... :)

Lucy Pollard-Gott (fictional100) I appreciated the goodreads list that Monique shared. What an excellent compilation of key titles! In that list, I would especially recommend Life of Christ by Bp. Fulton Sheen and The Lord by Romano Guardini. A reading of either of these meditative lives of Christ may extend well beyond Lent, but both are well worth the journey and full of illumination. Along these lines, I have found Jesus Becoming Jesus: A Theological Interpretation of the Synoptic Gospels by Thomas Weinandy to be a very readable and inspirational as it offers a close reading of Jesus' life in the Gospels.

This year I am planning to read The Cries of Jesus From the Cross: A Fulton Sheen Anthology, an ingenious compilation of writings on the Seven Last Words of Jesus that also encompasses his essays on the Beatitudes, with the virtues and corresponding vices pertinent to each.

I also highly recommend a couple of series specifically designed for Lent. Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle has written a series of beautiful booklets for families, under the title Bringing Lent Home with.... I have here Bringing Lent Home with Mother Teresa by Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle , Bringing Lent Home with St. John Paul II Prayers, Reflections, and Activities for Families by Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle , Bringing Lent Home with St. Therese of Lisieux Prayers, Reflections, and Activities for Families by Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle , and Bringing Lent Home with Pope Francis Prayers, Reflections, and Activities for Families by Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle . Each of these follow the same lovely, user-friendly format: a quote from the exemplary person (e.g., Mother Teresa), Reflections for Parents, a Family Prayer, A Story from that person's life, creative ideas for fasting, almsgiving, and prayer, and a concluding affirmation of faith and God's love to keep in mind all through the day.

Another wonderful series (from Christus Publishing) is A Lenten Journey with Jesus Christ and.... I have A Lenten Journey with Jesus Christ and Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity by Vilma Seelaus and A Lenten Journey with Jesus Christ and St. Paul of the Cross by Victor Hoagland. These books give the Gospel reading for the day, followed by a Reflection, a quoted passage from the writings of the saint, and a concluding prayer. These are excellent material for a daily meditation or time of prayer. Other titles in this series focus on writings of St Therese of Lisieux, St Benedict, St John of the Cross, St Francis de Sales, and St Thomas Aquinas.

I am also continuing to read The Science of the Cross by Edith Stein (St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross). In essence, it represents her deep understanding of Saint John of the Cross and his writings on union with Christ through prayer. Her own deep faith and acute powers of reasoning make John of the Cross her ideal companion on the spiritual journey to God and can lead the reader to embark on this path, the "Ascent of Mount Carmel," as well.

How are your I Spy lists advancing? 1 1/2 months to complete them before a new list goes up ! 🌲
December we begin fresh cover hunting with a New

It’s been fun, but I don’t think I’m going to make it. I’ll need to try harder next year!

Not bad for my first year, however, I don't think I will complete the list this year. I'll try harder for next year!

In response, I'm wondering what options everyone might prefer ...

1- Continuing to work on 2019 Book Cover Spy List?

2- A New but shorter 2020 Spy List?

Either option works for me. A new list for 2020 would be good, but it doesn't necessarily have to be shorter.
