John Muir's celebration of the Sierra is as rapturous as I expected. His descriptions remind me how much I also treasure the Range of Light. After 150 years, we have highways and subdivisions where Muir once rambled with his sketchbook, but his descriptions remind me of how much remains worth protecting.
Don't forget that we will be meeting on Wednesday, April 3 at the Salt Lake City Library to discuss My First Summer in the Sierra. All are welcome, whether you have read the book or not. In addition to sharing perspectives on Muir's recollections, we will calendar our reading selections for the remainder of the year. Come with your ideas! Thanks.
