it’s just the empress is a big part of my character’s life, so the empress needs to stay.

So we can definitely have a deceased empress! If you’re alright with that. I can see your character being disapproving about his new relationship or something. I’m sorry.

Perhaps you could change which pride she's in if you are set with having a living Empress, since Bakari is alive and.. Maybe not so well, but alive.
