SOME PEOPLE HAVE CONNECTIONS. Kim Deokhwa is one of these people. And any person who knows Capt's new lead rapper Lil D — stage name chosen by Deokhwa himself — would know it, because it's pretty obvious that it's the main reason he's in South Korea's up-and-coming idol group. Sure, over years of training he has reasonably good dance ability and (half decent) rap skills. That part is the hard work. The lucky part is that he happens to be the brother-in-law of BD Entertainment's Vice President.
Deokhwa isn't a slacker — he knows how to pull his load for a performance. (Not that it's hard when he gets approximately one line per song.) He is not, however, a considerate person. And maybe that's just what happens when you're a literal chaebol and for your whole life since conception you've been given anything and everything you want without having to factor in other people. So he doesn't. He doesn't think about them, because he doesn't need to. Deokhwa has a safety net that will stay with him for his whole life so he doesn't need to consider others. Deokhwa could drive under the influence or commit manslaughter with no real consequences. (But he wouldn't do those things, because he's dumb, but he's not stupid, okay?) He's not evil. He's not a total idiot. It's just, well, for lack of trying.

HOW, exactly, people feel about Jeon Junyoung — better known by his stage name, JUN — is up for debate. While widely considered not only one of his company's best vocalists but one of their best visuals, Junyoung is also one of the better-known TV personalities of the new generation of idols. Some might say that he debuted in the wrong generation. More precisely: his sense of humor was born in the wrong generation, because no self-respecting man under the age of forty is going to make the kind of jokes that Junyoung does. While it makes him popular with people outside the typical idol fan demographic, leading many to call him the bridge between the generational gap of young idol fans and their parents and grandparents, it also creates an uncomfortable distance between him and the younger members of his group.
And Junyoung knows this! He does his best to connect with all the members of Jupiter. He knows that to him he's some sort of authority figure, some old-man-trapped-in-a-six-pack that doesn't understand them. (And, okay, that's true. He doesn't. But there's also a reason he's never been in want or need or more lines or screentime.) So he works hard for them. He acts cute, does his aegyo, tries to act — more like them. And it works, kind of. Kind of because, well — laughing at him and rolling their eyes is progress from when they used to just ignore him or reply to everything with yes, hyung, okay, hyung, I'll make sure of that next time, hyung. But he'll take what he can get, because being the leader of Korea's top idol group isn't easy, okay?

❛❛ HELLO! I'm A*MUSE's girl with the smile like endless sunshine, Summer!" So debuted Summer Lee from California, sixteen years old, not even fully fluent in Korean yet. We all know how the story goes: the biggest girl group ever at the time debuts, all of the odds are stacked against them, they rise up and dominate the Korean idol industry like no one, male or female, has ever seen before. And somewhere in those thirteen years of making history, Summer Lee becomes less shy, less confused, a little more comfortable with her life in Korea. And, of course, she does it all with a bright smile, because that's who DBCS' Summer is: a smiling, wide-eyed fool, oblivious to anything in the world around her that's more serious than sunshine and puppies.
But it's hard to keep up the image, because, well, Summer isn't sixteen anymore. And it's hard to be the happy virus! when most of the time, you just want to crawl into bed and cry. It's not easy to be in a group full of superstars when you're not the best at anything, okay? There's always someone prettier, funnier — Summer is a good vocalist, but not as good as some of the others; she was accepted into the company, always praised for her dancing, always told she was amazing, but even in her own group, she's overshadowed by other members. And it's fine. She doesn't have to be the best. But now, now that the group has dissolved into solo activities, she's wondering what she is good at.

Once upon a time, XGirl was a leading girl group. After winning a daesang for their debut song, it seemed certain that they would easily remain at the top. And the might have—if BD Entertainment hadn't sent them to Japan in an attempt to expand their international fanbase. As her group's career dwindled down, and Minah was offered a choice—one that only a fool could refuse.
So she made her debut with a viral music video, and was subsequently launched into the kind of stardom that only seems to grow in momentum—far more than she or any of the other XGirl members had ever received as part of the group. And Minah is still proud to be a member of XGirl; she's not the type of person to forget where she came from. She knows that everything she has, she has because she was in the group first. But the thing is that life, fame, the fruit of years' effort—it can only be as much as you make of it, and, well, she's chosen to make something of it.

Well, the joke's on him, because here she is: Kang Sera, A*MUSE's visual goddess, variety superstar, and resident firecracker. The thing about years of intensive training and harsh feedback is that you end up growing a thick skin, and once you've reached a certain point, it makes you kind of fearless. And when you're Sera, you stop caring about when you should stop.
Because the truth is, Sera should do a lot of things. She should be more careful of her image, she should be more respectful to her seniors even if she doesn't like them, she should be the cookie cutter idol that BD Entertainment hoped she'd eventually become. But the thing is, Sera is loved for many things, and none of them are because she's a typical idol. Her juniors like her because she's unpretentious; viewers of her multiple variety shows like her because she's unabashedly funny. She could sit pretty like a little doll—God knows it would mean getting less hate mail—but that's not who she is, and it's certainly not the person that she wants to be. She's not the kind of person who will water down her personality just to make other people more comfortable, or change her image because some old guy in a suit told her to.
KNOWN AS KASTOR'S ICE PRINCE, Hwang Wooyoung is a cool and chic city man to some, and a short-tempered brat to others. In a way that is seemingly contratictory to the cool intellectual image that Wooyoung has maintained over the past fourteen years, Wooyoung is also known for his intense passion: his frequent annoyance, his burning stage presence, his perfectionistic tendencies, and, most of all, his commitment to his group. He swore, at the group's last fanmeet as six before the lawsuit went public, that he would protect KASTOR's name unconditionally, and in the ensuing eleven years, he has stayed true to his word, even when it has gotten him into trouble.
There is nothing that Wooyoung ever leaves half-finished, because as he often says, If you're not going to do it properly, don't do it at all. Whether it's finishing a three-day concert with a fever or enlisting as a marine early to minimize the group's hiatus time, Wooyoung takes his responsibility and commitments seriously, because, to be honest, he takes everything seriously. He may not be a funny variety personality, or the warm and nurturing type, but if it is something that Wooyoung can do, then he can be expected to do it to the very best of his ability.

Born to a truck driver and a diner waitress in a small town
in Carolina, Vivienne Chao never dared dream too big. In

NOW KNOWN AS TEAM N'S GLASS HEART, Baek Dahye was one of the more popular understudies before her debut, expected to quickly become a high-ranking member. And honestly? She expected it, too. It wasn't a secret that at her debut, and still now, she was one of GNM48's most stable vocalists. But then, overcome with nerves during her debut stage, her high note went tragically flat. And in that moment? Every single little shred of confidence that Dahye had worked to gain over the years — gone.
And even though after almost two years since her debut stage she's been able to gain a reputation as one of the best performers on her team, Dahye hasn't been able to rebuild her self-esteem. She's a sensitive girl, Team N's crybaby, she always has been; and though she can put on a fierce and confident face on stage, Dahye struggles to feel the part. WHEN Hyekyung started training at Adachihara, everyone said the same thing: that she was only doing it because her older brother was doing it. And they weren't wrong about it — someone like Jung Hyekyung wasn't suited to this kind of work. She didn't have the heart, or the body for combat, or anything. If anything, she was more suited to be the one on the other end of the comm, safe behind a computer. But Hyekyung had always been a follower, and she'd spent her entire life following wherever Sookyung went. So when he joined Adachihara, it was only natural that Hyekyung would, too.
They said that when it came down to it, Hyekyung would never be able to choose their mission over Sookyung. They were wrong.
When the time came, Hyekyung chose the mission, and now, half her left arm is missing and her older brother is a vegetable in a hospital bed that their parents don't have the heart to pull the plug on. Hit by a drunk driver, they were told. That it was someone else. Not Hyekyung. (It was Hyekyung. He's there because of her.)
Now, Hyekyung doesn't do field work. Most of her work at Adachihara is done behind the scenes, plotting strategies and predicting opponents' next moves — the things she was always more suited for. Occasionally, she helps with training, and when she tells a new recruit that they'd be better off in a different division, she means it.

If he is to be completely honest, he thinks that the Southern Rebels are fools for wanting him. What does a pastry-maker have to do with any of this political business? But they seem to have seen potential in him and his culinary skills... either that, or maybe they also thought that he was the tough would-be assassin that his trial painted him as. But maybe they were onto something, because as it turns out, the stable handiwork of a patissier is useful when it comes to handling weapons. It's even handier when you're trying to figure out how to disguise a poison so sweet that it could never be detected.
