Let's discuss!

Krystal (krystalhobgood) I felt sure we'd see Alicia speak by the end of the book, so this really didn't come as a surprise.

It's really very disappointing how little regard many of the employees at the Grove have for their patients. Theo acts in an unethical way, in almost everything he does. Obviously Christian was uninterested in helping Alicia, as was the art therapy lady. And now we have Diomedes who is excited at her progress, but only because it benefits him as far as the Trust goes.

Theo is so completely unreliable that if we are relying solely on his transcription of what was said in his meeting with Alicia, then that could all be totally bogus anyway. I'm anxious to see what she "said".

That really got me too. It almost made me laugh thinking about them being worried about the Grove being forced to close. Maybe take better care of your patients and the hospital wouldn't be in that situation?

Deborah (debh56) | 63 comments I might have missed it, but were we ever told what kind of hospital this is? Private? State? I’m wondering because it feels like a state hospital in terms of the attitude of the staff, fear of closing, and the way patients interacted. Theo has his problems, but he does care about Alicia.

I don't think it ever said but I went with it being a state hospital because it housed a lot of convicted criminals. To me, private seemed too expensive for patients the state convicted.
