Bonjour! I learned basic French through a self study course many years ago but never really mastered grammar. That’s what I’d like to work on the most through reading French books. Back then I worked my way through some novels, I remember one was ‘La Cathedrale de Haine’. I’m very busy at the moment and won’t be reading anything French for the next couple of months, but hopefully after that I’ll be able to follow along with the group. FYI, I found you through Calla’s sewing book reviews on Amazon!

Hello, is this group still alive? I moved to Quebec 6 years ago, so my spoken French is fairly good. However whenever I try to write something in French, I feel like a 6 year old would do a better job than me. It's really embarrassing. So I am looking to improve my French spelling and grammar by reading. It would be nice to find books that are fun to read and challenging - but not too challenging.

Hello, I've been learning French for about ten years and I joined the group as I'm looking for recommendations for goodreads in French.

I like a good story in clearly written French with minimal philosophising.

A French book I liked is: any of the short story collections of de Maupassant.

Pour améliorer son français grâce à la Littérature, il est préférable de commencer par des livres assez faciles. Le premier à recommander est Le Petit Prince d’Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. C’est un classique et il est également assez facile à lire 😉

N’hésitez pas à me faire part de votre niveau en français ainsi que le genre de livre que vous souhaitez lire pour vous conseiller une lecture 😉

Currently the group is reading L'etranger come join us in the book reading thread. We choose a book a month and discuss, you might find some nice book suggestions there.

Bonjour, hi! Here an Spaniard who lived in Brussels (13 years ago) and Montréal (2 years ago). After this last experience abroad, I came back to my country and I don't have so much time to practise my French so that's why I join this group. I see you're thinking about Michel Tremblay as a new reading. I read one book (Le peintre d'aquarelles) and enjoyed it a lot. I met Tremblay in a book fair and he was so smart and hilarious. I hope to have fun reading with you guys. Take care of yourself!

My name is Iain and I have recently joined the group. I’m looking forward to participating. I am an intermediate level learner and I find reading simpler French books helps my grammar and comprehension although listening and speaking French are a whole different matter. Some of the books that I have read include:
1. Le Petit Prince by Antoine Saint-Exupéry (2015).
2. Mes Vies by Sini Lallemand.
3. Viviane Elizabeth Fauville by Julia Deck (2014).
4. Le Mystère de la Falaise Rouge by Marc Thil.

Bonjour à tous. Je viens d'arriver dans ce groupe et je suis vraiment heureuse parce que j'ai toujours rêvé de faire partie d'une communauté comme celui-là.

Je m'appelle Leydi et je suis panaméenne. Ma langue maternelle est l'espagnol, mais j'apprends le français depuis 2018.

Le français est une langue merveilleuse, mais le procesus d'apprentissage, en tous cas pour moi, n'a pas été facile. J'ai essayé de l'apprendre de manière autodidacte, cependant, je me suis trouvée parfois toute seule et ce n'est pas mignon.

J'espère que vous êtes tous bien et en train de lire de bonnes choses en français. Pour le moment, je continue à lire Harry Potter en français, mais je suis intéressée à lire d'autre choses au même temps.

Je veux savoir comment puis-je partager et connaître ce que vous êtes en train de lire tous ensemble comme groupe.

Je suis nouveau dans ce groupe! Je m'appelle Daniel et j'ai quinze ans. Je suis allemand et mes langues maternelles sont l'allemand et le russe, mais j'apprend le français au collège depuis presque cinq ans. Je n'ai pas encore lu beaucoup de livres françaises, mais j'éspère que ça changera bientôt!
