Adam Thielen | 3 comments I've completed a draft of the first episode of a new kind (well I haven't read everything, so maybe it isn't) of LitRPG told in 2nd person perspective.

It takes place in the near future (cyberpunk light) and rather than emulating an RPG experience, is more like a tabletop campaign. At this point, I want some feedback from LitRPG fans on if this concept is worth fleshing out the rest of the series.

Head over to the character creator to get started. You heard right. It's time to roll your own. Then send me a message or reply here and I'll get you a link to the first episode.

Riley Keene | 5 comments Thanks Adam!

For others who might be on the fence about this - give this a go! It's a really unique experience, and I'd love to see how others felt!

David Harbour | 17 comments I see it has been quite some time since you were looking for guinea pigs. Oink! Send me a link? I just finished the character creation.

Ethan | 2 comments Question, how exactly are Spells and such done? Along with mana expense and recovery? (HP is easier to imagine) Is there going to be a spell list? List of cybernetics you may install?

Well... aside from my hoard of inquiries with mechanics, it's getting a place in my almost-good-stuff-but-just-not-quite-book.

Adam Thielen | 3 comments The mechanics adhere to a binary system of opportunities during events and encounters where the reader either can use the ability, spell, or skill, or they cannot. If the former, using it is optional and I cannot stop them from reading the consequences and adjusting their decision, so that's factored into how things play out.

Because the optional actions are predetermined, the costs are also laid out and the reader tracks what they've spent and what they have remaining. They will be informed when they recover or have the opportunity to use recovery items.

Similarly, they will be presented with events where they can buy or sell items as well, and will track their credits. As for a list, I would not provide one ahead of time. I wouldn't even do a deep delve into stats or benefits of the items the reader are presented with, in order to give them some surprises and mystery.

Mahesh (maheshnakka) | 10 comments Lol, I love character creation, and why would I waste an opportunity like this. Please send the link to episode 1, eager to compare how my character evolves.

David Harbour | 17 comments I gave it a go, here is what I think as a reader.
I think your idea has merit, however, your current delivery system doesn't work as it stands. It breaks the reader's immersion by revealing consequential and inconsequential information based on stats regardless of meeting the stat requirements that I have to track. Now I know things about the story I shouldn't because I didn't meet the requirements to know it.

Here is what I think as a TTrpg player.
You don't give me the chance to role-play. In this medium that is usually provided with a multiple choice of actions or reactions and a directive to turn to page...

Perhaps if this is done in an app that records the stats and just tells the story based on those stats.

Wayne Howell | 1 comments Just submitted my character sheet. As an aspiring LitRPG author, I'm very interested to see where this goes.
