Decline and Fall is the debut novel of Evelyn Waugh, and the second I've read of his.
Paul Pennyfeather is kicked out of the academic world and has to fend for himself. He goes to work in a really bad public school, and find himself in few surprising adventures
Waugh have a clear style - very funny and dry, great descriptions of people and situations and great caricatures.
I've read Vile Bodies last year and absolutely loved it.
Decline and Fall was not quite as good, but still enjoyable.
There were a lot of great moments, but it didn't build into a very strong story for me.
Still - it was an enjoyable read, and I will continue with more of his books - Scoop and Brideshead Revisited: The Sacred and Profane Memories of Captain Charles Ryder are both very tempting.
