Lucretia ends up confined to an asylum by her son, Paul. Was this satisfactory justice?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments Well, Paul probably wouldn't tell the whole world that his mother poisoned the valet and he had to do something. Putting her in an asylum is a great idea. At least she would be out of the way and not trying to kill someone else in the household. I don't know if she knew about Paul's relationship with Hugh, but I doubt it. This would also get her out of the way of Hugh and Garnet.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I think, as mentioned in the other question dealing with punishment for the "haves" and the "have nots", this is the best that could be expected given their social class.

It was better than nothing. And, probably just rewards for a woman who loved her high society station. This has got to be a comedown and fall from grace.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Given the situation and the probability that she would never be convicted, the asylum was the most suitable punishment. It would actually be very fitting for Lucretia considering how much she cared about society. Being removed from it would be awful for her.
