Sean Dunphy’s spirit was restored after everything that happened to Hunter. What do you feel inspired his turnaround? How do you think the puppy therapy dog, Eddie, will help him?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments I think he felt needed and his skills were what kept Hunter alive. He also saw the vets at the Gala who were in worse shape than he was. It was also a count your blessings thing and he finally felt his blessings tipped the scale. Eddie should be a great addition.

Where we look at someone like Sean and think he should be on top of the world for being alive, inside it’s difficult because his job was so part of his identity. In those moments inside the limo, I think he saw his life to be so much bigger than the part he lost. HE kept Hunter alive and saw how wrecked Khalia was and was reminded of the love he had with Zahra. It was like his own life flashed before him.

That puppy is going to be a lifeline when he experiences those low moments again. Cross did a wonderful job portraying the natural emotions and residual mental injuries these men and women experience beyond the physical.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 101 comments I think his turning point started with the Gala. He saw so many vets that had worse injuries and they seemed to be dealing with it so much better than he was. And then he just jumped right in to try and save Hunter. I think all of that added up to his realizing that he did have a really good life. And I agree. The dog will definitely help keep him on track.

Laura He was still being a baby right after the gala not talking much in the limo etc. He was thinking to himself about the other vets having it worse then him, and looking forward to being with his wife alone, but the turning point to me was when he almost saw Hunter die before his eyes and realized how precious every moment is. He played a huge part in saving his life and realized he does have a lot to offer. The dog will be the icing on the cake.

He was definitely still feeling sorry for himself until the shooting, more contemplative than before but still wallowing. Saving Hunter was that definitive turning point.
