Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Same as SHINE's.

message 4: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Same! It's so unrealistic. Basically I hate unrealistic books.

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Sorry, "Dislike"

Love triangles are super annoying for me

message 8: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Some drive me nuts, some seem to work very well with the book, and I enjoy them.

YESSS. UGH.
I can’t stand cliches, unless they are pulled off really well.
And love triangles. Ugh.

message 11: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Agreed. The only love triangle I’ve liked so far is in The Hunger Games. All others are just very cliche. But yeah, I’ve read some very cliche filled cheesy books, and they drove me nuts. *glares at “Not if I Save You First* lol

😂yes, i hardly ever like them, although I guess if they are done super well I’m okay with it

message 13: by mya (new)

mya (moonlightjelly) | 28 comments Besides gross content: cheating, "love" at first sight, cringey love triangles, and when the main character is whiny and annoying.

message 14: by Anna (new)

Anna Sex/magic/strong language turns me off. XP

message 15: by Joey, The Coffee Lover (new)

Joey | 1584 comments Mod
All of those are good ones! Normally magic doesn’t turn me off unless it’s very strong or involving witchcraft and/or wizardry. That really turns me off

message 16: by Joey, The Coffee Lover (new)

Joey | 1584 comments Mod
I’ve read plenty of magical books without witchcraft or wizardry. Also, I’m fine with some witches or wizards if it’s presented in a bad light. Like in Narnia, where the white Witch is a very bad character. I know a lot would not agree with that, but those are just the personal convictions that God has laid on my heart.
Sorry for ranting 😂😂

message 17: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Witchcraft and wizards and magic don’t bother me like they do some people. I respect your opinions of course, and if witchcraft and magic is causing you to fall into sin, or causing someone else to fall into sin, then by all means, I think you should stay away from it. And I agree with you completely on that extent.
But, I think that as long as you’re not going to believe in this magic, and in wizards and witches, that there is nothing wrong with enjoying a book with witches and wizards and magic in it. It is totally based on you and where you are putting your faith, trust, and glory in. So, if reading a book with that in it, is causing you to fall, then I completely understand staying away from it, because I would do the same. But I would not go as far to say that putting these things in a fantasy book, as mere fantasy is wrong.

Completely respect your opinions though!

Yeah same here :)

message 20: by Anna (last edited Dec 09, 2019 12:59PM) (new)

Anna Oh right! And gay (LGBT+) content. Nope nope don't like it.

message 21: by Lana (last edited Dec 09, 2019 02:02PM) (new)

Lana (ohmylily) | 155 comments RIGHT?!? I think more people need to come out and say they don't agree with that, the problem is people attack you if you say you don't agree and treat you like some gang member wanting to hurt them. The way I see it is: I wish no harm upon LGBT+ people, but no, I don't agree with it. Kind of like how you disagree with my religion, it doesn't mean you have to hate Christians.

message 22: by Anna (new)

Anna Well, I'll state it quite frankly- I don't agree with LGBT+ because the bible states that it's wrong, and also God created male and female, not male and male or female and female. Females are not supposed to marry females, or males to males. Because of this rule that God created in the beginning, that's how it's supposed to be-female and male. People say they are LGBT+ because that's just who they are, but it's against God.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I am just stating my belief. You don't need to agree with me on this, but you don't need to attack me. I wasn't attacking anyone, just explaining why I do not agree.

message 23: by Lana (new)

Lana (ohmylily) | 155 comments Yeah Anna, and there is what I don't get- people have no reason to attack you on this, yet it's almost like people are saying this is the same as disagreeing with racial difference, which makes no sense. Christians should be able to state their opinion without getting shunned and bullied themselves. I admire that quality about you, is that it seems you're willing to state the truth (humbly xD) and not be afraid of what people will say about you.

message 24: by Anna (new)

Anna Yeah. It's not a racial thing, it's a choice in life. When you are born, your skin is a certain color--but not because you chose before you were born. As for LGBT+, it's a choice in life. You can't be born gay. When I said this once, people were reallllly mad and were like, "How dare you! It's not a "walk of life," it's just how we are born!" (But of course that isn't true.) I used to be super scared about saying this kind of thing online, because when I did, I really was attacked. (Literally people were posting update statuses about the girl who wasn't wanting to read about LGBT+ people in books and how horrible I was for that) But really, if following God's ways are really that important to you, you must stand up for what you believe. It's hard not to be a coward about speaking up - believe me, I'm still working on my weak preaching skills - but in the end, you stood up for yourself.

Harper, say it girl! But yeah, I think a lot of that is conviction, and knowing where you are personally in your own Christian walk. So yes, 100% agree with you!

message 26: by Joey, The Coffee Lover (new)

Joey | 1584 comments Mod
Saaame, everyone acts like lgbtq+ relationships are normal, and it’s disgusting

message 27: by Anna (new)

Anna It is disgusting. There's a reason for females and males to be a pair, not LGBT+, because um...science??? You can't have kids with a LGBT+ romance, not the reproductive way.

Anyway. It is gross, and it's against God. I don't know how people can go and say they are a Christian yet agree with LGBT+. It's one or the other, not both.

message 28: by Anna (new)

Anna Exactly. I'm glad there are those that can agree with me, knowing I'm not on my own.

message 29: by Lana (new)

Lana (ohmylily) | 155 comments I think deep down inside people know that it's wrong :/

message 30: by Anna (new)

Anna They probably do, that's why they all do it. Even if you don't believe in God, science proves (unless you're a slug or worm--who wants to be compared to one of those anyway) that you must have a male and a female to reproduce. So male x male relationships and female x female relationships are gross.

I'm really ranting. XD

message 31: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Joey wrote: "Saaame, everyone acts like lgbtq+ relationships are normal, and it’s disgusting"

Also, like, they're in every single movie, and I'm thinking, "There's not THAT many of them in the world! Like, there's a few towns and situations out there that don't have lgbtq+ people in them! That drives me nuts on top of everything else. I agree with you guys. Being gay, transgender, all of it, really comes down to people either wanting attention or are confused at who they are.. Or both. It's really sad, and I don't hate them at all, and if anything I have more love for them because they're so lost and it hurts to see them fall.

message 32: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Joey wrote: "Harper, say it girl! But yeah, I think a lot of that is conviction, and knowing where you are personally in your own Christian walk. So yes, 100% agree with you!"

And, thanks!

message 33: by Anna (new)

Anna Well yes, but since it's not normal at all, (I'm NOT a hater of anyone, just of sin. I hate it when people label me) don't they realize that they are intentionally choosing to go against what God set up? I think it's worse than accidentally like...for example, thinking some bad thought, then catching yourself and being like, Anna, how dare you! Because there you realize it's wrong, and try to stop, but with LGBT+ people, they just live that way without really caring. I could be wrong, but that's sure what it seems like. :/

message 34: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Yes, they ARE intentionally sinning. You can't get away from that, and I'm not saying that they're accidentally sinning. I'm just saying that it's hard to watch them fall into sin. But, yes, they are definitely sinning, and it's not just "not right", it's also going against what God wants. I completely agree with you, Anna. :)

message 35: by Erin (new)

Erin I hate books that start off really slowly. Also books where all the main characters escape everything without a scratch. It’s so annoying.

message 37: by Harper Nicole (new)
