Zoe (zo-ereader) | 490 comments Duration: March 1 - March 31st
Sign up period: Until Feb 28th
Partner pairings announced: March 1 (announced in this thread)

For FULL details of how the copy cat challenge works, please visit the 'About Copy Cat Challenge' post HERE!

SUMMARY:
In this challenge, participants are paired up to choose and read a book from their partner's read shelf and compare how they each rated the book. It's a fun way to discover new books, to read from different genre(s), and to make PenPal connections. This challenge repeats monthly, and you sign-up separately for each month you wish to participate.

COMPLETING THE CHALLENGE
- Week 1: Review your paired partner's 'Read shelf' and choose a book(s) to read. Post to this thread to update your partner on the book chosen. (You can ask them for suggestions too!)
- Week 1-4: Begin reading, and post any updates/thoughts as you read.
- Week 3-4: Complete your read, and post to the thread with final thoughts on the book and comparing how you and your partner each rated the book.

Participation = Post to thread (book choice), Read book, Post to thread (finished book thoughts)

NOTE:
- Please only sign-up if you are confident you have time to choose and read a book. If you are no longer able to participate after signing up, message a Mod or update this thread, so we can re-match, and no-one is left without a partner for the month!
- Remember to re-visit this thread on March 1 to see who you have been paired up with for the month (adding a calendar reminder helps!)

Chloe Reads Books (chloee_matthews) Hi, ALAHOMORA310,

I'm stuck at the moment between The Secret Garden and Crazy Rich Asians because I own both of these. Do you have any favourite books that you'd recommend?

Let me know when you've had a look at my shelves if you need any help deciding!

Chloe

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 494 comments Dear Anne,

So we finally become Copy Cats together!
I'm perusing your shelves and haven't decided definitely, but am leaning towards All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, as I am fairly sure I have a copy around here somewhere!

Miaou! Meow!
Jazzy xx

Yes, yay, we're finally paired up! :)

My son read that book a few months ago for school, and told me it was good and I needed to read it!

I'm choosing Carbonel: The King of the Cats - I had bought that book back in September when I saw your review for it, but hadn't gotten to it, so now is the perfect time! And of course it's got cats! 😻 And I love the cover! I think it will be a very pleasant read!

It's a children's book, quite short. I remembered it from grade school, and how it had inspired me to write a story about a cat that got top marks, but like I said I was only 7 or 8. I read it again from the open library. Hope you enjoy it, perhaps you will find a young child to read it to! xx

I love reading children's books :) And if it's short, then I'll have time for another from your shelf:
Cloudstreet

Hi!

I gave that book 3 out of 5 stars but I really enjoyed the premise, so I hope you enjoy it!

Kaviya (kaviyaarivoli) Hello Mion,

I have picked The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchet. I read a few pages of the book and I love it .

Am kinda reading a abridged version of these to my nephew and he adores this book.

Glad to have chosen this .

Do let me know if you have any difficulty picking from my shelf

Happy reading

Tiina (cauchemarlena) | 371 comments Dear Kaviya,

I got A Court of Thorns and Roses from the library today. If it turns out I really don't like it, I have a copy of The Bastard of Istanbul as well.

Happy reading!

M.

That's ambitious! But so good. I just discovered Tim Winton last year.

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 494 comments Dear Anne,

I'm 56pp, 25% into All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, and it's deeply moving. Written in 1928, banned and burned on the Nazi German bonfires for what I can only assume is for depicting the fact that the horrors of war touched the German soldiers as well, and that all men everywhere have the same thoughts, feelings, fears, and desires.

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 494 comments Dear Anne,

I have finished All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque.

I was brutally realistic, 5-stars. I have located the sequel, The Road Back, and will be starting it soon.

Hope you're enjoying the Copy Cat Challenge!

Hi,

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! That's pretty much how I felt about it to be honest. The narrative is hard to get in to, but when you do it's actually really enjoyable.

I have about 30 pages left of The Secret Garden left. I generally struggle to enjoy classics, so I'm a bit 50-50 on this right now. But, I am glad I picked it up.

Update to follow when I finally finish it!

Hi,

I finished The Secret Garden this morning. Sadly I rated it two stars. I think it's a good idea for a story, and I appreciate that it's a classic, but I just didn't really enjoy my time reading it.

But overall, I'm glad I've read it!

Anne ✨ Finds Joy (annefindsjoy) | 718 comments Jazzy,

I finished Cloudstreet I thought it was great! I love how unique Winton's writing is - this book had all kinds of weird and wonderful in it! I rated it 4* (it lagged a bit in middle, but I loved the beginning and ending)

I'm 80 pages in on Carbonel: The King of the Cats and adoring it so far! Should be finished in a few days!

Tiina (cauchemarlena) | 371 comments Dear Kaviya,

Sorry for dropping in so late. I finished ACOTAR and its sequel in March. They were enjoyable enough, but there were some things that annoyed me, especially about the sequel. I can see why it's such a popular series though.

Dear Anne,
Cloudstreet was my first Tim Winton, and a whole new world. He is my age I believe!
Glad you liked the book.
Thanks for an engaging month!
