If you are willing to place one of your April reading choices in the hands of another person, leave a comment here with at least five books and no more than ten from your TBR shelf. Participants need to leave comments no later than March 24th.

Here's how it will work:
Sophia will match people up and leave a comment with a list of who will choose for whom.
When you see the person you are to pick for, then look at their list in the above comments and leave a new comment with their name and the book you chose for them by March 31st.

You also need to watch and see what book your person chose from your list for you.
You have the rest of the month to read the book.

So if this sounds like something you would like to do, just comment below leaving your name and list of book choices for someone to pick your April book.

Hah! By October and December, we will all have read so many good Austenesque books that life will feel outstanding and divine!

(We could do this forever, you know, and I'd never get tired of it. Except, I do have a rather limited vocabulary. So, okay: maybe not forever. Just till October or December!)

message 26: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) I hope your wishes for October and December come to fruition, Christina! LOL

Oooh.... tough choices there. I'd like to see what you think about several of those. I picked The Making of Jane Austen. Crossing my fingers that you enjoy it (though no worries if you dont, LOL).

One others have loved but certainly isn't for me. The one I'm choosing is also well loved and I've read it too...the choice is...

Difficult choice for me here, as I know very little about any of them and had to look them all up. As I love the Gardiners so much, I'd like to be adopted by them, I'm going to choose The Assistant for you, Tlotem. Enjoy!

Jae | 11 comments Sophia, I'm going with According to Jane for you. An interesting premise with wildly varying reviews makes it an intriguing selection.

Haha! You trickster, you. No, it's all fun. I don't put books on the list that I never plan on reading. I've been culling the shelves of that sort before I even waste my time.
I should have read one of her books, at least, a long time ago. I'm eager.

Well, I started reading my Pick straight away and as it's a relatively short book, I've already finished it! Not fantastic sadly, but not bad. Felt a bit rushed at the end and I wished it had been somewhat more fleshed out to make a longer story.

I'm probably using typically British, and especially Yorkshire, understatement when I say it wasn't fantastic. It was an enjoyable read and I rated it at ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but it didn't blow me away, which is what I regard as 'fantastic'.

Thanks again Christina! Another reader described the story as "bittersweet". Yes, indeed. For me, too bitter and not nearly sweet enough for me. Still others have loved it. 3.0

Kirk, sorry to hear the read wasn't so enjoyable. Here's hoping your next read provides just the right mix of bitter and sweet!
