I'm sorry you didn't love it then. I have high expectations myself. Let's see.

Yes, I think I did. Having read the book, it was nice to see the characters again. The movie stayed quite true to the book.
Nice review Susy! I'm glad you did like most of it, thanks for sharing :)
I've yet to watch the movie, do you think it's worth watching ?

Raksha I hope I like it as you did, I remember reading this for school and didn't love it haha
Hopefully now that I'm older I like it a bit more

That's great to hear, Raksha! I loved the movie and Of course, Boo Radley and I wanna experience the book now :)

Really? So not many deviations? I've almost forgotten the movie itself.

But you have read the book?
But you have read the book?

Well, as far as we can rely on my (very bad) memory lol
I mean, it always has to be shortened but I've watched a lot of adaptations last year and my impression is that they used to stay true to the book. Deviations starting later, having now become more of a rule instead of an exception.
Probably Aqi, like I've heard such high praises for it and I feel my immature younger me was too harsh on this book. So I'm willing to give it another go :)

You've got a point. The movie (from what I remember) was long too, so that explains it :)

Haha, alright mature Kare, I hope you love it now :)

I can't make promises. I sometimes find most movies long and time consuming.

But you have read the book?"
Yes. Like a lot of times. I read it when I was at High School.

I first read this book 20 years ago when I was 14 for and I'm so glad that it was picked for this month's reading as I don't know if or even when I would of ever read it again which is sad now I've finished because I'm pretty sure we are supposed to read it a few times in a lifetime.

I absolutely love and enjoyed reading this even with the hard hitting and heartbreaking moments
Wow, Jess you read it quick :) I will definitely join in this month and I really cannot wait to open your spoiler tag. I can only wonder how your two reads of this book differed.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, Jess :) I never read it and only recently did I watch the movie and it's really something worth reading.

But like you said Jess, this book is remarkably accessible and I love it more for it. And as I've said before it puts weighty issues- race, social, political, historical- into 'easy perspective.' A wise story with universal and timeless truths. I was drawn into the witty, and oftentimes hilarious writing, I felt for sure the (view spoiler) Lee certainly sees a child's worth and gives kids credit. I can't remember the last time I read an author do that.
(view spoiler) The ending brought on more questions and I guess I'll have to content myself with my own answers to them... I do plan on watching the film but I've got a long list of adaptations I want to watch so I'm not sure whem...

I think the ending is one your meant to think about and make our minds up but there is a book 2 and scout is 27 and she comes home.

This was my third time reading it. It’s a treasure. I think I saw the Gregory Peck movie once, but I don’t remember it very well. In college I saw the play version, and that was powerful.
I heard that Go Set a Watchman is just an early draft of the book, and I’m afraid it would ruin this book for me.
