This is still my favorite Sherlock Holmes story. My edition of the book (Penguin English Library
) contains a fascinating essay by Kelvin L Jones about the Celtic and pre-Celtic myths and legends of the Hound in the Dartmoor area, which gave Doyle the inspiration for his story.
Why is there a translater listed for this book? Wasn't this written in English?

Finished this this afternoon. I enjoyed it but I was not wowed by it. I would not consider it a "must read". The solution to the mystery was pretty obvious as soon as all the characters were introduced, maybe not every detail, but the major players.
