When Hicks delayed Frank leaving with Sarah and Catherine, did you immediately suspect something was up? Were you surprised that it was Hicks staging the delay?

Phrynne | 607 comments I guessed at once something bad was happening although I didn't think Hicks was going to be a bad guy!

I hadn’t suspected Hicks but I did in that moment. I also remembered that cab loitering out there, too, and knew something was afoot.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I had suspected Hicks for a short time earlier in the book. This caught my attention when Frank mentioned that he had already relayed the information about Emma's murder to Hicks. I started thinking that Hicks may have been in on the murder, but hoped he wasn't.

That threw everyone. Kudos to the author for springing that red herring so late in the story.

So true. I thought I had the mystery solved but Hicks really made me reconsider my theories for a moment there.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I didn't suspect Hicks but this made me wonder until I realized he had been talking to Gilda.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 242 comments I thought Hicks was behind everything from the first time he is introduced. I wasn't sure if he was doing it for his wife or Gilda. When he delayed Frank I was sure he and Gilda were in it together. I don't think Hicks committed any of the murders though. I thought he used Terrance and Gilda.

Well done, Sharon! He just didn’t hit my radar until late.
