The Alexandria Project A Tale of Treachery and Technology by Andrew Updegrove Andrew Updegrove

Genre: Thriller
Page Count: 268

Book Description:

"Thank you for your contribution to the Alexandria Project" is the message cyber attackers leave behind as they delete crucial data from computer networks across America. It's not long before the nation is on the verge of collapse as Wall Street, the transportation system, government agencies, and the rest of our internet-based economy all fall victim to the attacks of unknown assailants. As the public outcry builds, Frank Adversego, a brilliant but conflicted cyber security expert, finds himself under suspicion as well as trapped in a power play between the FBI and the CIA. Only by tracing the Alexandria Project back to the source can he clear himself. What follows is a fast-paced, satirical tale of cyber sleuthing, international espionage, and nuclear brinksmanship that accurately portrays our increasing vulnerability to cyberattack. The surprise ending will leave readers both ready for the next Frank Adversego thriller, as well as concerned about where our headlong rush onto the Internet may be leading us.

Andrew Updegrove | 12 comments Target, Niemann-Marcus, Home Depot - what do these household names have in common? They've all been hacked.

If you've ever wondered how that bad guys do this, you'll find out along the way by reading The Alexandria Project - as well as how far worse can - and almost does - happen as well, but for the insight and action of our hero, Frank Adversego.

When I wrote this book, I adopted the tag line "the only thing fictional about it is that it hasn't happened yet." Since then, more and more of what I predicted actually has happened. Here's hoping the final chapter never does.

Deborah Johns | 107 comments I am currently reading The Alexandria Project and am about halfway through - so far it's an interesting book, a few surprises and the thought constantly in the back of my mind - just how close have we come to this event actually happening in our world?? Looking forward to seeing what our main character does next.
