Surgical services are often hidden away at the core of a hospital. Isolated from the rest of the facility, OR staff members work in anonymity. They come into the building dressed in street clothes, unlike the other employees who are uniformed, changing into garb that covers all their identifiable parts, including their sexuality in some instances. Oh yeah, I love to write about surgical services -- although in my writings, these tend to take place not in the OR, but as emergency surgery performed in the field!

Awesome! In my indie-published novel, Higher Than an Eagle, there is a pretty complex surgical operation that has to be carried out in the field (more specifically, at a weather station in the Canadian Arctic) -- a meteorologist has been mauled by a bear and further wounded by a backfire of his own shotgun, so you can probably imagine what kind of injuries he has!
Sheila stopped walking and looked back toward the hospital. A few seconds later, she swung around and moved in a zigzag path to the street. Sheila didn’t stop when she reached the curb. Standing on my side of the street, I screamed. “Stop!…Stop, Sheila!”
A woman next to her gripped Sheila’s arm and said something to her.
Sheila violently pushed the woman away, sending the helpful stranger into the crowd behind her--
