Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments So, what are you going to be reading by Quentin? I am up to the third in the series Chilled to the Bone. Is he a new author for you? He had a new book come out in the series a couple of months ago. Number four is Cold Steal.

Melissa | 20 comments I read Frozen Assets in July. I enjoyed it, but for some reason it didn't grip me as much as Jar City or Last Rituals. I can't pinpoint exactly why, it was just slower for me to get through.

I have already bought Cold Comfort so I will try to get to it this month and comment on it.

How do others compare this series to the other top Icelandic series?

Dee (austhokie) | 652 comments i struggled with the whole financial crime aspect - it isn't as interesting to me as the blood and guts of murder ;)

Dee (austhokie) | 652 comments its only a shortie (60pgs) - but I have Winterlude to read

Elizabeth (elizabeth_greece) | 19 comments I've got Frozen Assets and I'll try to get to it during September.

message 6: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 20 comments I just finished Cold Comfort. It was good, but I just don't seem to get into these books as much as some others. It may be the financial crime aspect, I'm not sure. I bought the first two, but got the third from the library and will be reading it soon.

Melissa | 20 comments Just starting Winterlude. Reading it on the computer as my tablet battery is dead. I prefer real books over the ebooks, but in cases like this there is no choice.

Susan Davis | 14 comments I have really enjoyed this author.

So far I'm getting into Winterlude more than the previous books. I think it's getting away from the heavy financial crime aspect, which isn't as compelling to me.

Melissa | 20 comments I wanted to mention that Chilled to the Bone was my favorite book in the series so far. This series really gets better and better as it goes along.

message 11: by Richard (new)

Richard | 39 comments I finished Frozen Assets last week and enjoyed it more than I first thought I would. The names put me off. A glossary of pronunciation would have been useful. I still don't have a clue how to mind-pronounce 'Hvalvik'. Second, the way the young reporter is drawn into the investigation didn't seem real. I did enjoy the financial plot taken from recent headlines. I remember the Icelandic crises and the repercussions that still bring daily harm. These crimes seemed a lot more real than so many complicated and convoluted death plots that no real killer would ever attempt.

I started the second one, and it is decent so far.
