I finally read Kiss of Snow, and it was excellent. I'm glad that Sienna got her Hawke tamed, and the progression of the story has me as hooked as ever. I am still more of a Psy fan, but I do love the Changeling/Psy pairing. I think it's a bit stale when they are both Changeling.

What are you reading in PNR?

I just finished , Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews. Love that Kate Daniels!

I'm behind on all three of those series, unfortunately. I did splurge for my copy of Shifting Shadows: Stories from the World of Mercy Thompson though!

I finished Ilona Andrews by Ilona Andrews. Kate Daniels keeps getting better and better!

The final in the Hollows series, Witch with no name by Kim Harrison and Wild Invitation, four short stories by Nalini Singh. Two are new and two are previously published.

I'm listening to Absolution by Susannah Sandlin which is book 2 in the Penton Legacy. I really enjoyed the first book which was a different pace of PNR to what I usually read and an interesting idea.

Before this I read the latest Immortals after Dark book I'd been waiting for the story of Melanthe and Thronos for some time. It was worth the wait :-)

I need to get caught up on the IAD, but I am psyched to read Melanthe and Thronos' story finally!

Yes, I think if you've enjoyed the IAD series then Dark Skye won't disappoint.

I felt the same Danielle! I'd been looking forward to their story from the snippets we got in other books from the series for so long :-)

It is funny, I've always thought, how in a series certain characters can just jump out from early on and make you want to know more about them. Hang on for their story. It happens a lot for me in PNR, more I find than in other genres.

Definitely Melanthe and Thronos have a story that stands out. I think it's the whole hate to love aspect.

I did too...really enjoyed the books. To me book two was the best. I loved the main characters in that. But looking forward to bookcover:Allegiance|20524616] I just haven't had time to get into it yet.

I am reading by Susan Griscom. Book 2 of the Whisper Cape series.

Just started , the last of the series.

I've been delving back into the Carpathians by Christine Feehan. I'm hitting the short stories.

I've read Dark Hunger, Dark Descent, and Dark Dream. Although I'm sold out for the GhostWalkers and I love any book with a Prakenskii hero, I forgot how much I enjoy the whole Carpathian worldbuilding and folklore. Yes, I'm still waaaayyy behind! Next up is Dark Melody, although I did already read Dark Possession. I hope to read Dark Celebration in December.

Anyone else a fan?

I'm definitely a fan, but I've taken a break. Feehan does have a lot of repetition of certain themes and I read a bunch one after another. I'm definitely behind. I've read through 15 and read Dark Celebration because I got it for free or something (bad memory). That one is definitely Christmasy and a bit too fluffy for me in parts (YMMV) but it did introduce some new lore. Reading the shorter novellas sounds like a good plan. I'll have to look those up.

Right now I'm hooked on Cole's Immortals after Dark series. I just finished book 3 and am on to book 4. The narration is by Robert Petkoff and he is an outstanding narrator.

That's kind of why I took a break. But time away was good for me, but I am realizing what I really like about the series. I think the whole blood sucking thing is gross, but for some reason it works well in this series. The Carpathians were one of the first vampire romances I really liked, along with the Dark-Hunters and the IAD (A Hunger Like No Other).

Oh, man. I love the IAD. I'm only two books behind with that! I hope to do them on audio one day (when I have time).

Last Dark book I read was Dark Wolf (#25). I think this series went downhill starting with #23. It's been difficult to finish these last 3 books.

Love IAD!

I'm just kind of blown away by the sheer number of Dark books. I've read thru 14 and it blows me away that there are almost twice as many left. It's daunting, bit I'm sure I'll get back to it.

I really loved her historical standalone books Lair of the Lion and Scarletti curse. Wish she had more of those.

I was addicted for years but finally couldn't stand the monotony...waaay to repetitive IMHO...so I took a break for a few years. When I went back to them, I enjoyed about 2 books then decided to just stop. There are too many good PNR's out there that aren't repetitive. I'm currently reading and dad-gum if I'm finding Kenyon's books kinda repetitive in the angsty "he was so mistreated" way.

I guess all authors have their pet themes and they show up in series :(

Anyone tried the Feehan series about the Leopard People? Worth a go?

I'm so far behind all things Feehan so thanks for the comments.
I just finished reading Scrape (Reveler #8) by Erin Kellison. it's more U/F but amazing nonetheless

Yes. Some books better than others. But I generally enjoy them. I wasn't as keen on the last book. It was too much in the vein of 50 Shades of Grey for my tastes.

Yeah, it's fine to take breaks and read them when you feel like it.

I took a long break from the Dark-Hunters as well. I think I'm ready to get back into them.

I love both Christine Feehan's Dark series and Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunters. But like others have mentioned, I too dip in and out of these two series. I often need to take a break and come back to read again later.
I tend to read one or two Ms Feehan books a year and have been doing this for a decade hehe.
I will often get to a point in the year where it's just nice to return to the worlds of the Carpathians/Dark-Hunters and catch up with the unfolding stories.

@KatieV I too loved the Scarletti Curse - very atmospheric.

I always say that I'm going to quit reading Kenyon's Dark Hunters and then I get sucked back in. Guess it's OCD. :) I really like her League series. The new one comes out next month.

How are you liking them? Love the series. No pressure. I would consider them Sci-fi/PNR.

I like it, but think I prefer the Dark series just because I like the theme of supernatural creatures more.

This 3rd book really has some twists and I'm impressed. I feel super bad for Lily if what Flame is suspecting is true. That means she was deceived most of all :(

Yes I liked the Gothic nature of the book too. It can be hard to find a thrilling Gothic romance with mystery! Have you come across any other books similar to The Scarletti Curse?

A movie? I stopped at 37 percent (131 pages). That's over a third of the book dragging the depression ad nauseam. Really?!!

Believe me. I know. The beginning was soooo slow. But you're at the part where it does start to pick up. I don't want to say what happens, but it will get better!

And not a movie, a TV series which I think will be very interesting as the story develops throughout (provided they don't screw it up).

Natalie - I wish I did know of some other Gothics like The Scarletti Curse :(

Kind of OT, but I'd love it if they'd make a TV series that follows Odd Thomas pre-book. Back when he and his girlfriend were in HS and having all sorts of adventures. I know that's not technically considered PNR, but Dean Koontz is a pretty romantic man apparently, because lots of his books have a good romance element. I love Stormy and Odd.

I'm re-listening to A Hunger Like No Other while I work. I'm doing some very boring repetitive crap at the moment and it works as pretty good background noise since I've listened to it several times before.
