The first scream came from the snowbound railwayman who felt the fangs ripping at his throat. The next month there was a scream of ecstatic agony from the woman attacked in her snug bedroom.

Now scenes of unbelieving horror come each time the full moon shines on the isolated Maine town of Tarker Mills. No one knows who will be attacked next. But one thing is sure.

When the moon grows fat, a paralyzing fear sweeps through Tarker Mills. For snarls that sound like human words can be heard whining through the wind. And all around are the footprints of a monster whose hunger cannot be sated... Cycle of the Werewolf.

Finally got this from the library! I was on hold. Starting now.

First quarter - (view spoiler)[I am used to King's writing and I like it well enough, even though it is a very straight-forward and non-flowery style, but I find it especially lovely so far here. The focus has been on multiple werewolf victims, where the reader is introduced to them and then, quickly, their deaths. (hide spoiler)]

Second quarter - (view spoiler)[The year is progressing and the werewolf attacks increasing. Fear has spread and even 4th of July fireworks have been cancelled in an attempt to keep the population safe after dark. The deaths are being attributed to a serial killer though, not a werewolf, though. (hide spoiler)]

Third quarter - (view spoiler)[Oooh so the fireworks went off in the werewolf's face, injuring one side of it, and it is hinted that only one town inhabitant wears an eye patch. The name isn't initially revealed but I presumed he would be aged or unable to kill in his human form for some similar reason, as it was stated that no would think him responsible. I didn't anticipate him to be a reverend! (hide spoiler)]

Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[It was interesting to get the reverend's perspective and how he was unaware that he was the werewolf before his eye was injured. This was proof for him when before he only felt renewed and had odd dreams, during every full moon previously.

Marty was so brave to confront him. I thought it pretty clever of him to sign the final two letters in his own name. He was true in presuming that any innocent adult would confront him or his father and not remain silent. (hide spoiler)]

First Quarter: (view spoiler)[ I liked that it gets straight to the point. We meet the first character and boom we don't know HOW he is killed but then on the next kill we find out what happened to him, shredded to ribbons. (hide spoiler)]

Second Quarter: (view spoiler)[ It's understandable why the town would want to cancel 4th of July, that werewolf has killed a few people by now and it doesn't seem to want to slow down and 4th of July is a full moon too. (hide spoiler)]

Third Quarter: (view spoiler)[ Right, I liked that we had clues on who it could be but really never crossed my mind, although to be honest we don't have a lot of characters growth to even guess who the werewolf could be. (hide spoiler)]

Fourth Quarter: (view spoiler)[ I think the reverend was getting a high after killing those people and didn't want to give it up. I liked that Marty sent him those letters and I liked that Marty was the one to "set him free" thankfully his uncle Al was there to help him even if he didn't really believe him. (hide spoiler)]

18% Jan - April (view spoiler)[ I liked that the first month had a punch to it. It was scary and it left us wanting to know HOW the character died. February had love letters and the character thought she was going to find love instead the werewolf found her. March gave us a drifter and much to our dismay he didn't make it either. April was hard for me because it was a child and the way he was killed was gruesome. headless and disembowelled. (hide spoiler)]

48% May - July. (view spoiler)[ May gave us the reverend and his weird dreams and that weird sermon. June gave us a clue as to who the werewolf could be. it is someone local and someone everyone sees on a daily basis, from the narration of the werewolf latest victim. July was probably the best month! the werewolf almost kills another kid but thankfully that kid blew up fireworks on his face and that made him ran off. (hide spoiler)]

68% August -October. (view spoiler)[ August gives u the death of the constable, ahh gullible constable, he thought the werewolf was a mask but no. he learned that the hard way. September brings on the slaughter of pigs. at least it's not a kid or a human although I feel bad for the pigs too. October!!! we finally learn the reverend is the wolf!!! what a crazy turn of events. Marty is gonna do something!! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Novemeber let's the reverend realize that HE is the werewolf. that he likes killing and he gets a satisfaction and that Marty knows he is the wolf and Marty is sending the reverend letters to kill himself and be done with it. December is a good month Marty is set to set the reverend "free" by killing him. thankfully he does and his uncle AL is there to help him. at least by providing the gun. (hide spoiler)]
