The most exciting news just landed in my inbox at Penguin HQ!

Karen M. McManus is writing a sequel to her blockbuster novel One Of Us Is Lying!

One Of Us Is Next takes readers back to Bayview High, a year after Simon's death, and no one's been able to satisfy the hunger for gossip quite like he could. That all changes when someone starts playing a lethal game of Truth or Dare; one where choosing the truth may reveal your darkest secrets, and accepting dare can lead to serious danger.

Simon may be gone, but someone's determined to keep his legacy alive. At any cost.

Coming Jan 7th 2020!

Eeeep! Sounds right up my alley. But then again I LOVED One Of Us Is Lying. . . and I'm a sucker for a murdery high school plot.

Are you intrigued? Did you read One Of Us Is Lying?

Sound off bookworms!

Mm, I know what you mean-- although I actually think it's incredibly hard for authors to genuinely shock readers anymore. I think these days we're so used to 'twists' that we expect the unexpected before the unexpected is even hinted at, if that makes sense? haha.

I anticipated the ending of One Of Us is Lying quite early on but thought that the author planted enough red herrings which made me question my theories and did enough character work to keep it genuinely interesting.

I always find the best twists are the ones that really incorporate an interesting 'why' and 'how' as opposed to just 'who'. It's often quite easy to guess 'who' but 'how' and 'why' are always the more interesting questions.

Kylie (bookishkylie) | 29 comments It’s on my tbr list! It just moved up a few places now that I know there will be a second book to read!

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 35 comments I had no idea, the twist did shock me. But that's just because I never read mysteries/thrillers like that, and I have no idea what the deal was.

Yea I think I'm definitely a little de-sensitized to twists because I read so many thrillers!

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 35 comments I can't wait for this next sequel though. I'll re-read OOUIL

It's super early days so not sure if we're even receiving proofs for this one yet but Turning Pages members will be the first to know if we are!

Mikayla✨ (mikaylaxreads) | 7 comments I read it in 2018 and really enjoyed it! Although I did guess the ending but that could be because I'm a genius‍ lol

Gabrielle Cornelius (paperbacksandpetals) | 6 comments I want to read it, it’s on my TBR! Maybe I’ll have to move it up a few spots...

Courtney (courtneyandherbooks) (courtneyandherbooks) | 29 comments I do agree with that - sadly a side effect of reading so much is that you start to know where a lot of books will go! I do live for a truly good plot twist

Sam (she_who_reads_) (she_who_reads_) | 14 comments I so very much enjoyed One of Us is Lying! (I worked out the ending, but man I had so much fun seeing the characters work it out) Can’t wait to see what book two does!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Just read OOUIL - it is a YA that really lived up to the hype! No, I didn't work out whodunnit!

Miz (marryallthepeople) | 7 comments Oh I haven't heard of One of Us is Lying!!! So I should read it then??

message 20: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmaafewchapterstillove) | 30 comments Ahhh I am so late to this conversation but I can't wait to see how the author continues the plot! The book ended in such a good way, I don't want her to do a Broken Throne (people pleaser) book just to add to the plot for no good reason :/
I'm sure it will be really good though!

If you like American YA high school novels & murder mysteries. :)Best way to find out would be to read a few reviews.
