Hi all!

I'd love to know: what are you reading right now?
Is it funny? Is it sad? What genre is it? Do you love it? Or hate it? Or are you somewhere inbetween?

This is a place to talk about what you've been reading lately! If you're looking for somewhere to talk about general stuff then please head on over to here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Oooh is that from the Hunting Jack the ripper series? Looks like it from the cover. I've never read the series but one of my besties says she loves it.

Sadly, I'm not reading any books right now! I'm waiting for 1st June so I can start reading Aru Shah and the End of Time (Pandava Quartet, #1) by Roshani Chokshi That's how ready I am for it😂

A_ bookbound _soul (a_bookbound_soul) | 48 comments Yeah, it's from the Ripper series. And I LOVE the series too!

Ilsen | 516 comments OMG YES I JUST FINISHED READING STALKING JACK THE RIPPER! It’s so good!! I have so many feelings about it! Feel free to talk about it in the DMs (or we can always use the spoiler tag in the general chit chat room).

I’m currently reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han (super cute I love it) and The Wicker King by K. Ancrum (it’s really intense).

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 4253 comments Mod
Ilsen is the Wicker King good? I have it downloaded and wanted to start it in I think 2018. Never got round to it but the book is still on my virtual bookshelf mocking me

message 7: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I think it’s good. It explores a lot of different topics. I’m just still wondering what’s happening but I think you should try it

message 8: by issacannafic (new)

issacannafic I'm reading an arc of The Storm Crow! It's good so far!

message 9: by Darcy (new)

Darcy Barzan I'm reading book three in the Keepers of the Lost Cities series, its middle grade fantasy about elves and its absolutely amazing.

I’m really surprised Keeper of the Lost Cities isn’t already on my tbr considering the name seemed familiar to me but I’m adding it right now it looks so fun and interesting!

message 11: by zaiyah (last edited May 31, 2019 07:13AM) (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) My cousin is trying to get me to read it, but I've been told it's like a lamer version of Harry Potter. Nothing, absolutely nothing could replace Harry Potter for me. But who knows? Maybe I'll try it and I'll enjoy it. Nine books is a bit extreme though since one's coming out in November and then another one in the new year. I think.

I just finished All the Bright Places. That was such a sad ending. I finished it in class and almost started crying. Now I'm reading This Savage Song But I'm only on the second chapter.

message 12: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments All the Bright Places is one of my favorite books!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!

I also really enjoyed This Savage Song! It’s really good.

@Zaiyah woah Keeper of the Lost Cities is a 9 book series!! So long!

Also I read All The Bright Places a couple of years ago. A weird book but v sad yeah. A good YA contemporary. You should read We Were Liars that was a good YA contemporary and it’s technically a mystery too.

message 14: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I also read We Were Liars. I liked it but my friend hated it so I want to reread it and see if my opinions changed.

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 4253 comments Mod
I read it years ago and I remember I loved (view spoiler) and just recently I started thinking about that again and I just want to reread that specific part again. Otherwise I thought the book was nothing different than any other contemporary YA.

message 16: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) My sister read it for school but raved about it so much that it made me not want to read it.

message 17: by Kadi, Creator (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 4253 comments Mod
Hahahha that sounds like me when you have all these super hyped up YA books like the Grishaverse books and every SJM book and Cassandra Clare book ever. When books are over hyped then you have high expectations that the books usually never meet.
That’s another reason why I love MG books because you can find a lot of hidden gems or not extremely popular books that are really good like The Eighth Day by Dianne K. Salerni or the Oliver Nocturne series and I could go on listing awesome MG series.
Ok I’ll just set up the book recommendation pages already so I can recommend you all my fave MG books!

message 18: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 445 comments I am reading The Queen’s Poisoner. It feels MG, but I’m not sure if it’s meant to be.

message 19: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I’m currently reading Wanderlost and Gabi, A Girl in Pieces. I’m also still reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before!

message 20: by Hunter (new)

It's not a lamer version of Harry Potter, i absolutely adore HP and i can see the similarities but the world in this is so complex and amazing. it does have a strong 'chosen one' vibe but in my opinion there completely different

Me too! It’s such a slow read. I don’t want to dnf but I might end up doing that because I’m just not into it and it’s creating a reading slump.

I love chosen one vibes! And prophecies and all that. I actually created a shelf specifically for books like that: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

I'm thinking about reading Gabi, A Girl in Pieces for this group's pride themed readathon. Do you recommend it?

message 27: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I’m still in the beginning of it so right now I’m ok with it. I still haven’t really connected with the characters

message 28: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) I'm in a huge reading slump! I finished What If It's Us on Wednesday, and can't finish anything. I've tried with two books, but I kind of hated their characters. I'm about to start a new book, but I don't know if I'll be able to finish it.

message 29: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I still haven’t read What If It’s Us! (I need to get to that) Right now I finished Wanderlost and I’m still reading Gabi, A Girl In Pieces and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

I have been in a major book slump recently because I've been trying to force myself to read Aru Shah and the End of Time even though it wasn't clicking with me.

But, finally I've managed to give it up and I'm super excited to start reading The Glitch in Sleep which looks really interesting. Also, it's part of a trilogy. This could be my next trilogy to love after The Eighth Day and The Accidental Hero. I really hope it's as good as it looks!

Sikander Ahmed (sikanderahmed) | 4 comments I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and loving it.

message 35: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) First time or reread?

message 36: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I’m still reading Gabi, A Girl In Pieces and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before along with The Cruel Prince and Final Draft!

Goblet of Fire is one of the three HP books I own! My copy is pretty well-thumbed. I loved so many things in that book. The Quidditch World Cup was so cool and the whole Triwizard Tournament was basically a treasure hunt with the most awesome and intricate clues.

message 38: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) I'm reading Ruin and Rising, which I need to finish tonight because I want to read it before King of Scars which I need to return to the library in two days! Quite awful for me.

message 39: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments Omg I hope you enjoy the Grisha trilogy! I personally love that trilogy! I also want to reread the trilogy before King of Scars!

OH YES. have you read six of crows too??? because that's kind of needed before king of scars lol.

message 41: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) OF COURSE!! I LOVE Jesper and Wylan! Favourite characters!

message 42: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I’ve read Six of Crows this year and it was amazing! I’m only missing Language of Thorns and King of Scars to complete the Grishaverse universe!

message 43: by Ilsen (new)

Oh no! What’s wrong with the Grishaverse? I’m a big fan of Leigh Bardugo so sorry I’m fangirling..

message 49: by Kadi, Creator (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 4253 comments Mod
😂it’s ok Ilsen. I love fangirling! But I actively avoid anything about Grisha. Maybe I’ll watch the show but I’m not reading the books😂

message 50: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) That's too bad. They really are quite good.

On another note, I just finished Ruin and Rising, so I'm about to start King of Scars.
