Marie This is probably my favourite of the books we've read so far (tied with The Road maybe). It was hilarious and very liberating and refreshing to read through. You usually have to keep track of what's going on in the story to get the logic of it all - in Dorian Gray you had to have the portrait in mind all the time. Here you can just turn off your brain and enjoy the book because it'll come up with absurd and impossible solutions to all the problems all the time. It works out really well and I love it.

I've ordered the sequel, and can't wait to read it!

Alexander Beal (bookman714) | 2 comments Just recently finished the fifth book in the "trilogy" and while I liked the whole series, the first book was definitely my favorite of them. So many hilarious lines.

Ben | 22 comments I liked the book but didn’t love it. Something about the particular blend of humor and sci-fi made it a fun read but ultimately unsatisfying. I felt like the story pulled me along but also kept me at a safe distance.

To be honest, I don’t read (or enjoy) a lot of either humor or science-fiction normally. Maybe the fact that I enjoyed it at all is a testament to how well-written this book really is.

Also, ‘Zaphod Beeblebrox’ might be one of my favorite names from any book I have read.

Exactly my feelings on it. I really don't like comedy in most mediums, but I understand the hype behind this one. It was fun.
