Will works desperately to try and lift the demon curse he’s lived with since leaving his family. Why now?

He has finally found someone that he truly loves and wants to enjoy it.

I think his feelings for Tessa have gotten strong and his reflection in her eyes isn’t a good one. It’s propelled him to be his authentic self and, in his mind, he can only be that by removing the curse. Jem’s always accepted him and seen the true Will so he’s never had a motivation so strong.

It still seems very "teenagey" to desperately try to lift the curse now, after knowing Tessa for such a short time. He doen't even know if she feels the same, and was so oblivious to his parabatai's own feelings. He obviously misses his family, but that was never motivation enough to try to lift the curse? Sounds like hormones at play, not true love.

True. Glad I'm not that age anymore, haha!

Me, too! I had to keep reminding myself of these characters’ ages as the story dealt with situations and issues much more mature.
