This book has been on my to-read list for a long time! It's one I've gone back and forth on for a long while so I am excited to finally get around to reading it. I can't wait to see what everyone else has to think about it!

Happy Reading! :D

Dustin | 154 comments A wonderful choice, evetyone! This book wasn't on my TBR before (though it is now,) but Schwab certainly has had me curious for a while.

★★★

I found the plot predictable and a rehash of other works. For example, this novel's plot reminded me of the 5th season of the Flash television series with its meta-human villain Cicada who blames other meta-humans for his niece's coma and proceeds to kill them one by one. Patricia Spindle (patriciaspindle) | 5 comments Hey, everyone! I just joined because I saw that your BOTM is Vicious and I'm a huge V.E. Schwab fan. I actually just started it last Friday, so hopefully I'll still be on time for the discussion?

I'm halfway through the book right now, but I'm not so sure Eli's agenda is because he blames Victor for what happened to Angie. From the beginning I got this feeling that he saw himself as God-sent, maybe because of what he went through with his father, but I feel it's more like he just wants to be the only EO out there. I don't know. Maybe later in the book we'll get an actual explanation about Eli but those are my thoughts so far.

Did you finish the book? Like it? I still have not gotten to it. I appear to be in a slump that I somehow did not know I was in.

I finished it. It was alright. Pretty predictable. I read through it quickly so I don't think I gave myself enough time to get in a slump with it.

Yeah, I finished it a few days ago. I really enjoyed it, I think the story was really good despite the theme not being the most original. What I liked the most were the characters, because you can't label any them of them as good or evil, they're all so morally gray you really don't know who is the worst and still I found myself rooting for Victor because Eli was just... too sick a puppy for me.
The ambiance was also great, reminded me a lot of Sin City.

And I'm sorry about your reading slump. I hate it when I get into one, which happens more often than I'd like to admit... maybe a comfort read would help?
