Pallavi (bookfetisher) planning to start somewhere mid June :)

Irene | 1936 comments I read this 2 years ago. I think I intellectually understood what was supposed to be humorous satire, but it never struck me as funny. I found the vulgarity off-putting. I would love to have discussed this with a mixed race group. I suspect that my racial and economic background may have hindered me from fully appreciating this book.

Pallavi (bookfetisher) I WILL read this one this month...

Pallavi (bookfetisher) Finally starting this one..
In Prologue.
I could not make heads or tails of this one till now. May be once I enter the actual story I can..(I think, also hope)...

Pallavi (bookfetisher) Finished "THE SHIT YOU SHOVEL" part.
It was very difficult for me to get into this one. Review said it was a funny book with "Satire" element etc etc.
I am not finding it funny/comic/satire.
This one is just sad and angry. I am not enjoying the topic covered here or the but the book is good (Truth is always hard to hear)!!
All I can feel at this stage is, hope this has a good ending... :(

While a difficult read for someone who has not experienced racism, it is a brilliant satire which brightly illuminates how little progress we have really made in a quest for equality.
