Chad | 1394 comments They just relaunched Vertigo last year. It makes little sense to shutter it so soon. But then again, why would a creator bring his creator owned book to Vertigo when there's Image, Black Crown, Dark Horse, Vault, Black Mask, etc. who all offer better creative control and money? If I was DC, I'd use Vertigo as an outlet for strange, adult stories using DC characters like they've done in the past with Sandman, Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, etc.

Christopher (Donut) | 99 comments Out of left field, can anyone confirm or deny that Border Town artist "Ramon Villalobos" was not actually Chris Burnham drawing under a pen name?

Just sayin'.

That seems to be the consensus on r/DCcomics.

Oneirosophos | 36 comments This, and another reason is now DC's has many imprints, while she is trying to fit all Vertigo classic characters into the main universe.

Vertigo should never be resurrected, especially like this, in the first place.

message 8: by Tom (new)

Tom | 175 comments It looks like DC will be using age ratings to differentiate their various imprints rather than the imprints themselves.

message 9: by Oneirosophos (new)

Oneirosophos | 36 comments Yes. DC Kids for 8-12, DC for 13+ and DC Black Label for adults.

Also, along with Vertigo, they are closing Zoom and Ink. All the other imprints (Young Animals, Wonder Comics, Wildstorm και Jinxworld) will continue to exist but not as imprints.

It's all marketing...

Christopher (Donut) | 99 comments It was about intellectual properties.

As I understand it, the CEO of Warner Brothers (or Warner Comm, or whatever it's called now), when he found out that Warner studios was 'optioning' characters and other trademarks that were already 'theirs,' he ordered all creators to sign away their creator rights or quit. The best ones quit.

That was the end of Vertigo.

Yeah, and I think once Karen Berger was out of the picture there wasn't a lot holding Vertigo together. Luckly, we have Berger books over at Dark Horse.

Besides, I think books in the same vein that would have been published at Vertigo 5 years ago are now being published at places like Black Mask, Vault Comics, and Image. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
