"Under the arrangement, Sienna is partnering with Latimer's Streel Films to produce a series based on Son of a Trickster and the upcoming sequel, Trickster Drift, which is due out in October."
"If television networks balk, there is always Netflix and Hulu, she said."
I hope it streams on Netflix!!
But it looks like first it's going to be on CBC TV

"The Trickster will consist of six, 60-minute episodes, to be broadcast in 2020."
So I'll have to be patient till it comes to US 😩

For those in US this is now airing on CW on Tuesdays @ 9pm ET/ 8pm CT
Streams for free on Wednesdays:

Honestly I have been afraid to watch because I love the books so much. I am waiting until the third and final ( I think unless she's changed her mind and decides to continue) book before I watch the series

From what I have heard the series is very different!

From what I have heard the series is very different!

you know, sometimes that's a good thing, especially when the book is much loved. I'll be sure to put in my two cents once I've had a chance to catch up on the first 3 episodes.
(I had deleted the CW app on my TV after Supernatural ended. So I missed addition of Trickster. Thank goodness for Chris's message!)
I know this isn't a popular opinion in the bookish community, but sometimes adaptations are better when things are changed. :)
However, it sounds like it might not give me a good idea of what the book is like. I'll keep that in mind when I watch it!

I see both of your points. Going by my own personal experiences, when I see the filmed version first I forever imagine the filmed characters when I finally read the book. That happened with the Sookie Stackhouse books. I read the first 2 books before True Blood and imagined the characters, in particular Sookie, completely different. After watching the first season of Trueblood I always visualized the characters like the series when I read the books.
Sometimes when I don't like the filmed versions that much it makes me so I don't even want to bother with the books, which is what happened with me with Harry Potter. I started late with the series when the movies were already out. For the first 3 books I was disciplined and didn't watch the movies until I'd read the books. However then we went ahead and binge watched the rest of the movies and after that I didn't feel like reading the books and nether did my son.
With the Trickster series strangely enough, the actor who plays Jared actually looks the way I imagined him! I only caught a bit of it on TV. The mom and Sarah looked different, but not in a way it bothered me,but I could see events that were not even in the book.
Like you say it can be a good thing, but I just love the books so much I want everyone to read them!

True, and sometimes the changes work quite well - like making Black Beauty a mare.

So, I've just the first episode. I love it...despite not recognising much of the book.

I watched the first episode last night. I enjoyed it!
The article says the co-creator/director faked being indigenous, and when the news came out, two producers dropped out. It's a shame they couldn't have found a new director, but I also understand that that's a big deal.
