Kara Thompson (karathompson) | 2 comments Hey group! I’ve been having a hard time finding bookstagrammers that post a lot of historical fiction. Any recommendations? Thanks! (This is my first post, I hope I did it ok 😬)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) | 781 comments I beg your pardon for my ignorance, but what is a bookstagrammer?

message 3: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 111 comments Hah, Abigail. I was just about to ask the same thing.

message 4: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Iciek | 462 comments I googled it - it has to do with reaching readers on Instagram.

I'm on Twitter and Facebook, but not Instagram so I'm not too familiar with it.

I don't have any specific recommendations. You might want to try playing with the hashtags you are following to try to get some better results. Or start with specific authors and see what they follow.

message 6: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dlopezgirl83) i have a hard time finding hist fic ones as well as hist fic booktubers as well. :(

message 7: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dlopezgirl83) look for an author you like, follow them and see who they are following or the hastags they use

Kara Thompson (karathompson) | 2 comments Thanks for the suggestions! For those who don’t know what bookstagrammers are i just found out about them myself while talking a publishing class. Basically they are people who have Instagram accounts dedicated to posting about the books they are currently reading and reviewing them. I’m a social media manager so I’m on Instagram a lot and like seeing books recommendations on there but rarely see historical fiction.

I follow the hashtag #historicalfiction. I’ve found some great new releases.

Do you know the booktubers Mel's bookland adventures and Eve's Alexandria? They read a fair amount of hist fic, and also run the challenge/group on goodreads Reading through the ages. Their channels might be a good start if you're looking for more hist fic recommendations on booktube.

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) | 781 comments Thanks for the explanations! Sad to say, I'm not on Instagram (or Facebook or Twitter, for that matter) so I can't help. There are people who blog about historical fiction, and maybe some of them might share their content on Instagram? So visiting the home pages of hist fic blogs might turn something up?

I didn't but I have already checked them out and they seem right up my alley. Thanks so much for the info

Krista at BooksAndJams is a booktuber who reads mostly historical fiction. She is very engaging and upbeat, my favorite booktuber. A couple more favorites are Lindsey at Lindsey's Little Library and Sarah at Sarah's Nightstand. Both read a selection of genres including HF, especially Lindsey. Others you might want to check out are Amy Pool, Getting Hygge With It, MagicOfBooks, Life Between Words and Kate Howe.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 111 comments I'm afraid I'm like Abigail. I made a decision not to get involved with Twitter, FB or Instagram or anything similar. It's not that I wouldn't find it interesting and perhaps useful, it's just that I don't have enough time for all that I'm supposed to do and so daren't add extras.

So I'm no help either! Sorry.

Not reading on instagram. Following people who have posts about books on instagram and the person above was looking for someone who posts historical ficiton.

V.M. Sang (aspholessaria) | 84 comments You are right, Anna. It is such a timewaster. I am on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, but rarely post on the latter two. If it weren't for business reasons, I wouldn't be on Facebook either.

message 18: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Eisenmeier (carpelibrumbooks) | 364 comments I post historical fiction sometimes to my Instagram account. (My favorite genres are historical fiction and urban fantasy, so I tend to focus on those two, plus pictures of my cats posing with various books.) My Instagram handle is @carpelibrumbooksandart.

I also follow that hashtag, and also #histfic. I've been able to connect with some great HF authors/writers that way. It's been a real inspiration for me. Sometimes pictures make an "instant" impact in a way that words can't, especially if I'm with my first cup of coffee in hand. ;)

message 20: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 10 comments I’m not a “professional” bookstagrammer but I’ve been posting book stacks and some commentary on books—a lot of which are HF (my favorite genre). I’m at @jencnewsom

message 21: by Natalia (new)

Natalia Weissfeld (alicelahija) I'm a bookstagrammer. I read a lot of HF, but not exclusively. Here's my account

Anita Jari Kharbanda | 20 comments Try the hashtag #historicalfiction or #hf on Instagram or Twitter

message 23: by Linda (new)

Linda Ulleseit (lindaulleseit) | 36 comments For Facebook users, check out the group SHINE with Paper Lantern Writers. It's for historical fiction readers and writers.

On Instagram, I post reviews of hist fic @lulleseit
also, @paperlanternwriters for hist fic

follow me and I'll follow back!

message 24: by James (new)

James Aura (jamesaura) | 1 comments Thanks. I hadn't heard of those groups. I've written a couple of historical fiction novels and working on a third... although they are set in relatively recent history, I highlight significant events impacting the stories.
