Beneath a Scarlet Sky 3 stars(barely)

I wanted this book to be so much more than it was. I did not hate it, but I wanted to love it and didn't.

The book revolves around the true life of Pino Lella, a young Italian boy in Milan during WWII. I find it hard to believe that this young man was caught up in all the adventures and terrible events of the Italian front. I am not sure how much creative license was taken in writing this "true" story, but it is advertised as Fiction, so I digress.

I liked that I learned more about the Italian experience of WWII. I thought about my father often as I read this, as he served in Italy and spent time in Milan. I want to search out more stories about this area of Europe during the war.

As I said-I wanted it to be better than it was *Heavy Sigh*

I think it might be a good movie. Didn't he write it originally as a screenplay? Lots of my issues with the writing might be overlooked as a movie.
