Discuss The Fault in Our Stars here.

Kerry | 31 comments I am so glad that I am not the only one that did not like this book. It was just such a let down. As a mother, I wanted to scream through this whole book.

Two of my neighbors died of childhood cancer, so it really offended me because it's not like it is in this book. And then I was a long-term sub last year in eighth grade middle school, and I would actually hear kids saying that they wanted to get cancer because they want an Augustus. It broke my heart. Like why?!

I think it's a pathetic excuse for a "cancer book that's not really a cancer book" or whatever Green wanted it to be. It's the worst book I've ever read.

Kerry | 31 comments My husband teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I get so upset at the stuff kids say at that age. I agree that it is not a cancer book.

Justin (justinswapp) | 45 comments Wow... At one point I was considering picking this up - I might not now. Thanks for the perspective.

Danique Glad I'm not the only one who absolutely hated it

I know people who absolutely love it. Last year, I had a student who had apparently read it ten times. It just wasn't for me.

You're not alone! And you rated it one star like me! lol

I'm happy to hear!

I don't get why this book (or the movie, which I haven't watched but don't feel the need to) gets this much attention from the media and has an entire fanbase. Hazel and Augustus are pretty annoying. I haven't seen (childhood) cancer up close, like you did as you said before, but even I could tell how romanticized it was. I also found the entire thing with Van Houten stupid and found pretty much everything about this book annoying. It just wasn't for me. I could rant on about it forever, because this book definitely does not deserve all the fame it gets.

I don't get it either. And the movie was even worse. I watched it for free just to see if it was better, but nope. You think they would have at least made an attempt to make Shai look like she was sick.

I really enjoyed it but I'm not sure why…

Nikki | 3 comments I thought it really opened up awareness to the topic of cancer but it wasn't really a cancer book more a romance and it seemed a little flaky both book and movie wise, I wasn't impressed by it

Mehrnaz Siavoshi (readbymer) I mean, personally, I enjoyed it. I appreciate John Green's writing style and his belief that people are always more complex than we imagine them, which is basically what this book was about. As a cancer novel or romance book, it fell short, but it came through strongly for its intended theme.

Manveer (manveerssj4) Not bad, really, but way way overhyped and overrated. This book was just good, nothing exceptional or out of the box. I mean, I really like John Green, but this one fell a bit short. The movie was horrible, though.

Skydreamer Lee | 6 comments I loved it. I liked the whole romance between Hazel and Augustus and the whole battling with cancer thing, but have to agree that it was overhyped.
